"Take me to 79's."
"The clone bar?"
―ARC Trooper Fives and air taxi pilot Jay Igno[1]

79's was a cantina located on Coruscant that catered to the Grand Army of the Republic's clone troopers. During the Clone Wars, many troopers frequented 79's, and after the end of the war, the fall of the Republic, and the rise of the Galactic Empire, many continued to do so.

History[]

Republic Era[]

79's was a cantina located in the galactic capital of Coruscant. During the Clone Wars, the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic would gather at 79's to party and blow off steam when off duty. 79's was known on Coruscant to be a clone bar; however, non-clones would also frequent it. ARC trooper Fives had taxi pilot Jay Igno take him to 79's where he met his friend Kix to ask for help after Fives discovered the Order 66 conspiracy. Fives fled the bar when the Coruscant Guard shock troopers arrived to search for him.[1]

Imperial Era[]

Into the Imperial Era, the establishment remained open and still was used by many clones, including Cade and Slip. The two clones met there to discuss the events surrounding the destruction of Tipoca City, where Cade revealed to Slip at the bar that he was prepared to do whatever it took to bring the truth to light, as Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart, who oversaw the destruction, publicly claimed it was a storm that razed the city. However, as Cade left the bar, he was assassinated by a sniper hired by Rampart. Following the shooting, Slip escaped the scene on a speeder bike and several other clones came outside to see what the situation was, securing the perimeter when they found one of their brothers dead.[2]

Senator Chuchi discusses their pension needs with the clone troopers.

Later, Senator Riyo Chuchi traveled to 79's to meet with the clones there, prepared to argue on their behalf in the Senate as they deliberated Rampart's Imperial Defense Recruitment Bill. Several clones were not receptive to working with her, but Chuchi convinced them that they needed to face the reality of being decommissioned and that she wanted to make sure their needs were met.[2]

Legacy[]

Several years later, the 79's logo was used to decorate the wall next to the driver's seat in an All Terrain Tactical Enforcer that served as the home of veteran clone troopers Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor.[3]

Decades later, the cantina's logo was painted on the nose of the Green Ace, the racing starfighter of Hype Fazon,[4][5] and on the chest of Fazon's flight suit.[4][6]
