Genitor, also known as King Murderfish[1], is a fish-like superspecies that first appeared in the MonsterVerse comic, Godzilla Dominion.

Name[]

Officially, "Genitor" has no official name or designation in canon. Author Greg Keyes claims that the term "Genitor" was used for the creature in the script of the comic to denote it as the creator and controller of the Genitor swarm.[2] Illustrator Drew Edward Johnson calls the creature "King Murderfish".[1]

Greg Keyes refers to the creature as a "Sub-Titan", a non-canon term he uses to designate creatures from the Hollow Earth that don't rise to the level of power, grandeur, and size that Godzilla or his foes from the movies and other comics do.[2]

Design[]

Appearance[]

Genitor bears a striking resemblance to the prehistoric piscine predator known as Dunkleosteus. Its body displays a vivid blue hue and is adorned with a protective covering of plate-like armor and rough scales. The creature boasts a lengthy, brilliantly red dorsal fin, as well as pelvic and caudal fins that share the same vibrant hue. Its pectoral fins, which terminate in three claw-like digits, are adorned with intimidating spikes. Its jaws are equipped with massive bony plates that protrude outward, resembling formidable teeth. The creature's eyes, while predominantly black, are lit up by blazing red pupils.

Personality[]

Genitor exhibits an exceptionally aggressive behavior, as it engages in an immediate assault on Godzilla without any apparent provocation. Additionally, it demonstrates its commanding nature by directing its swarm to overpower the larger Titan, showcasing its ability to assert dominance and control over its subordinates.

History[]

Godzilla Dominion[]

When Godzilla finds a gap in his old lair, opened by the detonation of a nuclear warhead by Ishiro Serizawa, he is surrounded by a gigantic swarm of Hollow Earth fish that seem to share a hive mind. Suddenly, Genitor emerges from the gap and bites Godzilla on the neck, ramming him back and making him bleed. Godzilla quickly retaliates by brutally snapping the creature in half, breaking its spine and killing it instantly, while also destroying the hive mind. As Genitor's mutilated carcass sinks to the ocean floor, the members of the former hive mind swarm its corpse and begin to devour it. Godzilla proceeds to incinerate Genitor's corpse with his atomic breath, killing off the surviving swarm feeding on it.

Abilities[]

Hive mind[]

Genitor was able to control smaller members of its species with a hive mind, forming a massive swarm. If Genitor is killed, the hive mind is broken.

Speed[]

Genitor was fast enough to ambush Godzilla before he could sense its presence.

Strength and combat[]

The bite of Genitor was of such exceptional power that it possessed the ability to penetrate the formidable skin of Godzilla. Utilizing its incredible swimming capabilities, Genitor propelled itself at full speed, successfully ramming into Godzilla and concurrently administering its powerful bite.

Weaknesses[]

Weak armor[]

Though parts Genitor's body was covered in thin plate-like armor, this armor was easily broken. Taking advantage of this, Godzilla was able to split the monster in half and kill it instantly.

Instagram (May 11, 2021). “Genitor is not a name, it is a description-- a gender neutral term I used in the script to denote something like a queen bee +, both the creator and controller of the smaller fish. So far as I know, the species is not named. While the term " sub- Titan" has been tossed around (by me at times) to designate creatures of Hollow Earth origin that don't quite rise to the level of Godzilla or Rodan, I have no indication this is a canon term or category.”
