Dog is a giant canine kaiju that first appears in the MonsterVerse animated series, Skull Island.

Name[]

Dog was named by Annie when she was a young girl.

Design[]

Appearance[]

The dog has a strong and muscular body, with shoulders that are taller than a human. It has a thick and full mane that extends from its neck to the middle of its back. The back of the dog has noticeable spikes. Its limbs are muscular and sturdy, and it has thick eyebrows and two large, pointed ears that emerge from its dense mane. Interestingly, the dog has a facial structure that is characteristic of Brachycephalic breeds, causing several teeth from its lower jaw to protrude outward and cover its upper lip.

Personality[]

Dog displayed a deep sense of loyalty and protectiveness towards Annie, exhibiting behavioral traits commonly associated with domestic dogs. Despite Annie not being his owner, Dog willingly and devotedly guarded her, even at the risk of his own life. He also demonstrated exceptional hunting skills, effectively pouncing on prey when necessary.

In terms of his interactions with people, Dog exhibited an aggressive demeanor towards individuals he didn't trust, such as Mike and Charlie. However, after witnessing Mike's efforts to teach him, Dog gradually developed a level of trust, allowing Mike to ride on his back. Nevertheless, he maintained a certain level of caution and kept some distance from the teenage boy.

One notable aspect of Dog's personality was his strong inclination to protect Annie. He consistently prioritized her safety over others, displaying heightened attentiveness and a sense of duty when she was around. This personality can be described as fiercely loyal, protective, and discerning, as Dog showed both aggression towards those he deemed untrustworthy and a deep bond with Annie.

Abilities[]

Strength and combat[]

The dog displayed a remarkable degree of physical prowess, enabling it to successfully engage in combat with the wide variety of predatory creatures that resided on Skull Island. His powerful jaws, which could break bones that were relatively large in comparison to his own size, were what gave him the canine form of his formidable strength. His razor-sharp claws, which had the same ability as those of his father to easily rip through large metal objects, added to this formidable quality. One remarkable accomplishment involved his rapid defeat of a colossal Dodo of towering stature, surpassing that of the average human, through a swift action of clamping its jaws around the creature's neck and swiftly severing it, all transpiring within a matter of mere seconds. Additionally, Dog showed the astounding ability to carry at least two people on his back at once. Given Dog's extraordinary physical prowess, it is reasonable to assume that he is capable of facing down and combating powerful creatures that are on a par in size with himself.

Climbing[]

Dog exhibits its remarkable ability to ascend trees effortlessly due to the presence of sharp claws on his feet. However, it demonstrates apprehension while descending craggy terrain, as it proves to be a more challenging task for the creature.

Speed and agility[]

Dog possessed remarkable bursts of speed, surpassing even Kong himself during their chase. His agility allowed him to outrun the giant creature. Additionally, Dog showcased the ability to climb surfaces vertically using his claws, although he appeared somewhat awkward and struggled visibly while doing so.

Senses[]

Similar to other canids, Dog possessed an exceptional sense of smell and hearing. These heightened senses enabled him to detect nearby threats, often before they were even visible. Additionally, Dog's sense of smell appeared to be particularly strong, as he was able to track Annie's scent from the sea.

Swimming and Stamina[]

Dog demonstrated exceptional swimming abilities and remarkable stamina. He could effortlessly traverse through water, utilizing his strong limbs and muscular physique to propel himself efficiently between islands, although the exact distance remains unknown. Moreover, Dog showcased remarkable endurance, enabling him to engage in prolonged physical activities without easily succumbing to fatigue.

History[]

Skull Island[]

When Dog was still just a pup, his parent started hunting down Annie and her father in their wrecked ship. After a harsh fight, both Dog and Annie's parents died fighting each other, which left both without a parent to take care of them. Later on, Dog and Annie met and started sharing their food, quickly becoming best friends and living with each other to survive together from that moment on. Both spent up to ten years on the island which Annie dubbed "Annie's Island", having many adventures together, and she soon gave Dog his name.

Trivia[]
