The Death Valley was a Federation Type 6A shuttlecraft that was in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to the USS Cerritos.
In 2380, this shuttle was in the shuttlebay of the Cerritos when Ensign D'Vana Tendi arrived on the ship. (LD: "Second Contact")
Some time later, a Cerritos lieutenant later crouched in front of the Death Valley from where she pulled the trip line used to neutralize two Gelrakians that had invaded the ship. (LD: "Temporal Edict")
In 2381, Ensigns Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler traveled to the surface of Tulgana IV on the Death Valley. Later, Commander Jack Ransom took the same shuttle to the surface to check on them. (LD: "Reflections")
Later that year, Lieutenants jg Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, and T'Lyn took the Death Valley to repair the weather satellite over Sherbal V. As they departed, the shuttle was attacked and destroyed by the IKS Che'Ta', though the occupants managed to beam to the planet. (LD: "The Inner Fight")
As with the other shuttles assigned to the Cerritos, this shuttle is named for a National Park located in California, namely the Death Valley National Park.
