Daveed Diggs (born 24 January 1982; age 42) is an actor, rapper, and singer-songwriter who voiced Commander Tysess in Star Trek: Prodigy.

Diggs is probably best known for originating the dual roles of Marquis de Lafayette / Thomas Jefferson in Lin-Manuel Miranda's 2015 stage musical Hamilton for which he won a 2016 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical. Along with the main cast of Hamilton, he was awarded a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in the same year.

He can also be seen in the 2020 Disney+ presentation of Hamilton which was filmed at the Richard Rodgers Theater on Broadway in June 2016.

Diggs is also known for his reccuring role as Johann Johnson in the hit sitcom Black-ish from 2016 to 2022, which starred Jenifer Lewis. In 2016-17, he co-starred in The Get Down and since 2020, he co-stars in Snowpiercer, alongside Chelsea Harris and Fiona Vroom.

Diggs served as executive producer and wrote original music for the short-lived 2017 ABC sitcom The Mayor as well as appeared in a guest role. The same year, he played a recurring role in the Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (starring Carol Kane, with Andrea Martin).

Diggs wrote, produced and starred in Blindspotting (2018, with Leland Orser), for which he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead. He created, executive produced and wrote for the 2021 spin-off sequel television series of the same name and reprised his role from the film in four episodes (with Stephen Root and Joe Taslim).

He also had roles in Wonder (2017), Tour de Pharmacy (2017, with Andy Milder and a cameo by J.J. Abrams), and The Starling (2021, with Rosalind Chao and Don McManus). In 2020, he played abolitionist Frederick Douglass in The Good Lord Bird.

His voice acting credits include the role of Sebastian in The Little Mermaid (2023) and the animated films Ferdinand (2017), Soul (2020), DC League of Super-Pets (2022, with Dwayne Johnson and Jameela Jamil), and Trolls Band Together (2023, with Kevin Michael Richardson and Fred Tatasciore), as well as episodes of animated series such as BoJack Horseman (with Paul F. Tompkins), Bob's Burgers (starring H. Jon Benjamin), Star Wars: Visions, Solar Opposites (with Gideon Adlon, Tom Kenny, and Vanessa Marshall), and Krapopolis (with Eric Bauza and Fred Tatasciore).

Diggs is also a prolific musician and rapper. He is the vocalist of and writer for the experimental hip-hop and rap group Clipping, a member of True Neutral Crew and Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Kail's freestyle rap group Freestyle Love Supreme (FLS).
