Gamera (ガメラ^?) is a kaiju from the Rebirth continuity. He made his debut in the first episode of the 2023 Netflix-exclusive animated series, Gamera: Rebirth.

Design[]

Appearance[]

Gamera's design is reminiscent to the one utilized in the 50th anniversary film, appearing as a colossal turtle bipedal creature with dark green scales, green eyes, a mouth filled with teeth and a pair of large tusks protruding upward from the lower jaw, five clawed fingers on each hand, five toes, and a long tail, brick-like pattern shell on the underside, and a back shell with several spikes protruding from it.

100,000 years ago, Gamera was originally black scaled with bloody red eyes before he was genetically altered into being a protector, as shown in the "Childhood's End".

Flaming Bolts[]

Gamera's signature move. He can charge himself with thermal energy in his torso and convert it into flame balls powerful enough to incinerate Kaiju.

Claws & Fangs[]

Gamera has extremely sharp claws on his hands and razor sharp teeth he can use in combat.

Durability[]

Gamera's hide and shell are extremely resilient and strong against the military's missiles and kaiju attacks.

Strength[]

Gamera exhibits immense strength, enabling him to effortlessly lift other Kaiju creatures off the ground and into the air. For instance, he demonstrated this power by effortlessly holding up a Jiger with a single hand.

Flight[]

Gamera possesses the remarkable ability to achieve high-speed flight. To accomplish this, Gamera retracts his legs into his shell and emits blue flames from the leg cavities. Simultaneously, his arms undergo a transformation, resembling the fins of a sea turtle, and emit blue flames along the backside. Additionally, Gamera can enhance the propulsion from his leg cavities, enabling him to soar into the atmosphere.

Thermal manipulation[]

Gamera possesses an extraordinary ability to autonomously regulate and amplify his body's thermal heat. This unique capability enables him to generate and control intense flames, which he can direct using his clawed hand. The flames produced by Gamera are so powerful that they have the ability to completely incinerate creatures like Jiger, reducing them to nothing more than a charred carcass.

Energy discharge[]

Gamera possesses the ability to generate substantial amounts of energy, which he can release in the form of a powerful shockwave. This shockwave is potent enough to disorient other Kaiju, but it also has the drawback of causing disorientation to Gamera himself.

Buzzsaw attack[]

In terms of Gamera's flight capabilities, he possesses the unique ability to retract his limbs, head, and tail into his shell while extending the spikes on his dorsal shell. This transformation allows him to emit intense blue flames from the cavities in his arms and legs, enabling him to rotate rapidly like a buzzsaw. This maneuver serves a dual purpose: firstly, it acts as a defensive mechanism by deflecting incoming projectiles from adversaries, and secondly, it enhances Gamera's rotational motion, enabling him to slice through opponents such as Guiron with ease. Moreover, in this transformed state, Gamera can generate a significant amount of energy by spinning rapidly. As his rotational speed increases, he is able to generate an energy sphere around himself. This sphere possesses immense power and has the capability to incinerate and shred other Kaiju that come into contact with it. This attack effortlessly destroyed both S-Gyaos and Guiron.

Healing[]

Gamera exhibits a remarkable capacity to regenerate external wounds when he retreats into the sea. Although his regenerative abilities do have certain limitations, he has demonstrated the capability to heal injuries such as lacerations and ocular damage. However, it is noteworthy that Gamera's regenerative powers were insufficient to restore his right claw hand, which was severed by Guiron during their fight in "KILL".

Gravitation manipulation[]

With his energy, Gamera can create and surround gravitational fields around himself that can deflect Viras' gravity beam.

Gravity beam[]

A last resort weapon. Gamera is capable of converting his own life force into immense energy and release it as a gravity beam powerful enough to reach the Moon and completely destroy the Foundation.

Reincarnation[]

At the event of his death, Gamera can create an egg from within his body that remains intact after his body collapses. It is unknown if the hatchling retained Gamera's memories or not.
