Zigra (ジグラ,   Jigura?) is a kaiju from the Rebirth continuity. It made its debut in the third episode of the 2023 Netflix-exclusive animated series, Gamera: Rebirth.

Design[]

Appearance[]

Based on the Elasmobranchii, Zigra appears as a ray/wyvern like sea creature with a silvery-gray hide, pectoral fins with attributes of a dragon's wing and a claw on each end, a wyvern-like head with a triangular arrowhead frame, serrated teeth and a pointed nose, segmented scales on the upper back area, legs with three black claws and one vestigial claw on each foot, and a long tail with a stinger on the end.

Gamera: Rebirth[]

After the death of Jiger, Zigra would be seen blowing through a rock 100 kilometres under the water.

Run Silent, Run Deep[]

Zigra would hunt down the children who survived the attack of the Gyaos. He would be attacked by military ships but would quickly destroy them with his liquid shots, continuing his hunt. Zigra would eventually encounter a boat that had kids from the Gyaos attack and tried to kill them. While the boat briefly stopped Zigra with it's missiles before using it's thrusters to escape, Zigra easily caught up with it just to be caught in a battle with Gamera. The two engaged in battle, Zigra getting dragged into the depths and continued their fight, the two kaiju charging towards each other. Gamera discharged a massive shockwave, disorientating Zigra and causing the turtle to begin sinking. Zigra then began using his liquid shots for echolocation to continue tracking down the children. Zigra eventually surfaced on land to end the hunt as the humans activated the electrical tower, causing Zigra to stumble back again. Zigra tried to kill them but Gamera surfaced behind him, continuing their fight. Gamera would kill Zigra with a flame shot to the chest, burning Zigra alive.

Zigra's carcass would be eaten by Guiron after being studied by researchers.

Abilities[]

Amphibious nature[]

Zigra is capable of breathing on land and underwater.

Swimming[]

Due to its aquatic nature, Zigra is very skilled at swimming. It can move over 110 knots underwater in seconds, and increase its speed at will.

Supercavitation[]

Zigra can generate vapor-filled cavity bubbles around itself to reduce water resistance to increase its speed over 200 knots.

Echolocation[]

Zigra can rely on its sense of sound underwater in the event its sight is hindered.

Durability[]

Zigura's hide is durable enough to even withstand several depth charge missiles launched at it.

Razor-sharp head[]

Based on the shape of Zigra's head, it can pierce through the side of a sea vessel with little effort.

Tail Elongation[]

Zigura can extend the length of its tail over a vast distance, even from land and to the shoreline.

Land Locomotion[]

Once on land, Zigra can utilizes its fins and legs, but at a slow pace due to its build.

Gliding[]

Zigra can leap and use its pectoral fins to glide in the air.

KEP (Kinetic Energy Pulse)[]

Zigura can charge kinetic energy in its thorax and project it as an indigo colored energy beam from its mouth.
