Kate Millett
Died on September 6, 2017 at age 82
Kate Millett’s first and most famous book, “Sexual Politics” (1970), is credited with inciting a Copernican revolution in the understanding of gender roles in what she saw as a patriarchal society fortified by the traditional family unit. The book, though scorned in some quarters, became a foundational text of feminism’s second wave in the 1970s.
