Pioter was a Temerian man that lived in Grimmwald, and was the primary servant to the Hogge sisters at their manor.[1]

Biography[]

At some point while in service, two weeks after being attacked by a werewolf, he received the witcher Geralt of Rivia and his friend Dandelion at the gates of the manor, and after approval from the sisters, led them in. Geralt was charged with finding and killing the monster, and when he returned the night later, and revealed he thought there was validity in the creature's defense, Pioter went into a rage, screaming the monster had to die.

Again, Geralt returned later with the further knowledge the lycanthrope had been Kurt Grimm, who attacked Pioter out of anger at the sister's attempts to kill him and for "stealing" the town from his father. The witcher said he could no longer take the contract, as he thought Kurt docile and mentally scarred, and so left the town. Pioter found him and Dandelion, as well as Red and her grandmother soon after, however, when he went into the woods in a personal vendetta against Kurt. Red had been injured by the creature and said it was allied with the Hogges, which Pioter disagreed with, and so returned to the manor.

The following morning, Lea Hogge was found cut to pieces in her bed by her sisters and Pioter, clutching a note only writing "Crane Meadow". Geralt, Pioter, and Dandelion set off to the location, to find the witch that lived there. When they reached the snowy forests, they were attacked by a group of nekkers, which the three managed to fight off, Geralt gaining Pioter's respect for saving his life. Eventually, the three reached the witch's hut and Pioter sat with Dandelion talking whilst the witcher waited for Kurt with the witch. Kurt's arrival quickly angered Pioter and he shot a bolt into the creature's chest, who then turned into his werewolf form and began to attack, which caused both of them to become hindered in place by the witch's strong magic, who was furious at the spilled blood.

All of them, except for the witch, discussed the truth behind Kurt's anger and innocence, and then returned to Hogge manor. The following day, after Pioter had told Kopek Grimm his brother was dead and brought him to the manor to meet with everyone, Red's grandmother's guilt was revealed as a doppler. Then, Kurt and Kopek got into a fight, resulting in the death of them both and the witcher leaving the town.[1]

Notes[]

  • Pioter was homosexual, despite his acknowledgement of the difficulty faced with being open about it during that time period and region, though admitted it was "easier'n bein' an elf".
