Wol Cabassh was an Outer Rim Territories planet situated in the Quelii sector. It was the homeworld of both the plasma leech spacecraft parasite and the related sentient Wol Cabasshites. The latter species fed on plasma and metals and communicated via the use of natural magnetic fields. Over millennia, starship travel spread both the plasma leech and the Wol Cabasshites far from Wol Cabassh.
Description[]
Wol Cabassh was a planet[5] located in the Wol Cabassh system, a part of the Quelii sector[1] in the New Territories portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It was home to the plasma leech, a small ergovorous parasite that consumed plasma and whose entire life-cycle occurred aboard spacecraft where it fed on power sources.[4]
Inhabitants[]
Wol Cabassh was the homeworld of the Wol Cabasshites, a species of sentient[4] immobile[6] slugs[5] that were descended from parasites[6] and whose closest genetic relative was the plasma leech. The Wol Cabasshites could tolerate extreme temperatures and severe variations in atmospheric pressure and fed upon[4] plasma-rich substances[5] as well as metals. The species developed a language that involved a Wol Cabasshite exuding and manipulating a natural magnetic field.[4]
Millennia of starship travel resulted in the spread of both the plasma leech and the Wol Cabasshites far from their homeworld and throughout the galaxy.[4] The Besalisk chef Dexter Jettster eventually included a product known as Wol Cabasshews as part of his interstellar garden salad recipe in the menu for Dex's Diner, his restaurant on[7] the Core Worlds[8] planet Coruscant.[7]
Behind the scenes[]
Wol Cabassh was developed as part of the backstory for[4] Ghoel,[6] a character appearing in the 1983 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.[9] The StarWars.com Hyperspace member "ejmacki" submitted an entry for Ghoel's species[4] through the Hyperspace feature "What's The Story?," and it was added to the site's Databank on February 3, 2006.[10] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Wol Cabassh system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square O-6.[3]
