Cade Bane firing a whipcord from his gauntlet.
The whipcord launcher[1] or whipcord thrower[2] was a piece of equipment that shot out a lariat, with the intention of tangling up opponents and preventing them from moving.[1] The bounty hunter Jango Fett and his clone son[3] Boba Fett both used whipcord launchers mounted on their Mandalorian vambraces[4] with both of them launching a fibercord whip. Cad Bane also had a whipcord launcher built into his right gauntlet.'[2] Grappling Troopers of Death Watch used whipcords to capture and imprison enemies.[5] Members of the Nite Owls[6] and the bounty hunter Din Djarin also utilized whipcords.[7]
While battling on Kamino, Jango Fett used his whipcord launcher to drag Obi-Wan Kenobi around on the platform they were fighting on.[3] Death Watch also used whipcord launchers in capturing Ahsoka Tano before tying her up for execution.[5] Cad Bane used his whipcord launcher to save Obi-Wan Kenobi who was disguised as Rako Hardeen in the Box.[8] Boba Fett used one to immobilize Luke Skywalker during the brawl on Jabba's sail barge.[4] Din Djarin used one of his whipcord launchers to ensnare Tano during their brief fight in the woods of Corvus.[9]
