A human elder was a lower-class villager who lived on a planet. The son of Dagonet, the planet's representative in the Galactic Senate, was kidnapped by her and her fellow villagers, and the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and Dooku were sent to rescue him. Dooku quickly realized, however, that all of the villagers appeared to be complicit in the abduction. The village elder admitted to the crime, pointing out that Dagonet's long service to the Republic had done everything to enrich him at the expense of his people.[1] She[2] took Dooku and Qui-Gon Jinn to the barn where the son was being held. The son said he had been treated well, and sympathized with the plight of the people, saying he didn't know anything beforehand, as he was usually on Coruscant or in the planet's capital. The discussion was interrupted by word that Dagonet had come in person, with soldiers. The elder accused the Jedi of tricking her, but Dooku told her that they came without the Senator's knowledge.

The villagers armed themselves, and they left the barn with the Jedi. Dooku attempted to get Dagonet to stand down, noting that his people were angry with him for good reason. The Senator refused, and a firefight broke out. The Jedi defended the villagers, but several were still struck down. As the deaths mounted, Dooku took a rash action and Force choked the Senator, and threw Jinn away with the Force when he tried to stop him. Jinn went back into the barn and freed Dagonet's son from his binders, and told him to go out there and save his father.[1]

The son's intervention led Dooku to release the Senator, as the son expressed disappointment in his father. At the village, as the father and son prepared to leave, Dagonet's son solemnly promised the village elder that he will help her people.[1]
