Qui-Gon Jinn: "The plasma explosion's still external? Get us within ten klicks, immediately."
The navigator: "You can't get any closer to that thing. You'll fry yourself and everyone else on this ship!"
Qui-Gon Jinn: "Not if we act quickly."
Obi-Wan Kenobi: "You heard my Master. Take us in."
―Qui-Gon Jinn, the navigator, and Obi-Wan Kenobi[1]

A navigator served on a Galactic Republic Consular-class cruiser on a mission to the Inner Rim planet Pijal in 40 BBY. Upon their entry to the Pijal system, they encountered a struggling soulcraft ship that blackguard soldiers had attacked. At the directive of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, the navigator moved the Consular-class cruiser closer to the soulcraft so they could assist.

Biography[]

"It's exploding. The ship finally failed?"

The navigator traveled to Pijal with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

A navigator worked aboard a Galactic Republic Consular-class cruiser during the Republic Era.[1] In 40 BBY,[2] they and the rest of the vessel's staff were dispatched to the Inner Rim planet Pijal, escorting Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to the world for a mission. Their Consular-class cruiser was also tasked with transporting materials to Pijal and its moon to build the new spaceports needed for the Pijal Hyperspace Corridor hyperspace route.[1]

As they arrived in the Pijal system, the navigator seated themselves in a chair on the ship's observation deck to work at a data terminal. Their Consular-class cruiser encountered a struggling ceremonial soulcraft ship in Pijal's outer atmosphere, watching as blackguard soldiers—who were secretly operating under the orders of the Pijali Princess Fanry—struck the vessel using a plasma bomb. The worker indicated to the Jedi pair that the external plasma fire coating the soulcraft's hull had been caused by an attack, not due to the vessel itself malfunctioning. Despite the navigator's protests and worry about harm to their own ship, they followed Jinn and Kenobi's directive of moving the Consular-class cruiser closer to the soulcraft after they insisted. The Jedi Master and his Padawan rushed to rescue the craft using handheld field lasers, eventually managing to douse the plasma fires with the assistance of an antiplasma charge fired by a nearby independent cruiser. Afterward, the navigator continued traveling to Pijal as planned.[1]

Personality and traits[]

The navigator expressed concern with the Jedi's request to get closer to the ailing soulcraft, as nearing the plasma fire would put those aboard their Consular-class cruiser at risk. However, they were willing to comply after being reassured.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The navigator appeared in Master & Apprentice, a 2019 novel written by Claudia Gray.[1]
