"I did some research. There are spine-wolves in that forest, Sifo. If I hadn't been found…"
―Dooku, to Sifo-Dyas when referring to his abandonment by his father — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

A forest was located on the Outer Rim planet Serenno. Following his birth in 102 BBY, the Serennian infant Dooku was abandoned in the forest by his father until he was later rescued by a Jedi seeker. In 90 BBY, Dooku—now a Jedi Initiate—discussed his abandonment on Serenno with fellow Initiate Sifo-Dyas. Afterward, he recounted the tale to his sister Jenza in a holo-letter, a hologram of which he later showed to his recently recruited Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress, around 23 BBY.

Description[]

A forest was located on the Outer Rim planet Serenno near House Serenno's Castle Serenno. Spine-wolves resided in the forest.[1]

History[]

"Don't I? Do you know what he did? Yoda said Gora left me outside his castle's walls. With no clothes. No shelter. With nothing to identify me at all."
―Dooku to Sifo-Dyas, about Gora abandoning the former in the forest[1]

The forest was located on the planet Serenno (pictured).

Shortly after his birth[1] in 102 BBY,[2] the Force-sensitive Serennian Dooku was abandoned as an infant in the forest by his father, Gora, the Count of Serenno, who contacted the Jedi High Council and instructed them to take Dooku away. Dooku was soon rescued by a seeker and brought to the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant.[1] In 90 BBY,[3] Jedi Grand Master Yoda told Dooku, who had become a Jedi Initiate, how he was found outside Gora's castle.[1]

Sometime later, Dooku told fellow Initiate Sifo-Dyas that the dangerous spine-wolves that lived in the forest could have killed him. He speculated that if he had not been abandoned there, he could have been much more than a Jedi. However, Sifo-Dyas dismissed those thoughts, and they both laughed about Dooku's ego. Dooku later recounted the incident to his sister Jenza via holo-letter.[1] Around 23 BBY,[4] Dooku showed his recently recruited Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress, a holographic data disk detailing his origins on Serenno and his conversation with Sifo-Dyas about the forest. After listening to the disk together, he gave her several more holo-letters for Ventress's investigation into Jenza's location.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The forest was first mentioned in a flashback in the 2019 audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott.[1]
