However, Kenobi mind tricked the Senate Guard, convincing him that they could leave the Senate Building freely.

Biography[]

A male Senate Guard worked for the Galactic Republic.^[1] In 19 BBY,^[2] the guard was stationed with a partner at a door to the Grand Convocation Chamber in the Senate Building on the planet Coruscant during an emergency session of the Senate, in which the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire. The guard blinked and adjusted the drape of his robe when Senator Bail Organa of the planet Alderaan exited a turbolift with his aides and two Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. The guard quickly looked at his partner and was in disbelief at his good fortune, as the Jedi Order had recently been outlawed, and he expected promotions would be handed out if he captured the two Jedi.^[1]

The guard avoided staring at the Jedi and attempted to act professionally as he received Organa's identichip. He was pleased with his own businesslike demeanor as he returned it to the senator. The guard stated that he and his partner would take custody of the Jedi, prompting Kenobi to mind trick the guards through the Force. Kenobi suggested that he and Yoda should stay with Organa, and the guard agreed that it was a good idea as Kenobi seemed like a reasonable person.^[1]

The guard rationalized that the Grand Convocation Chamber was secure enough to prevent the Jedi from causing trouble, and that they could be arrested upon their exit. He did not want to be perceived as unreasonable and found himself constantly nodding and agreeing with Kenobi's suggestions.
