"Welcome home. He's waiting for you."
"Thanks, Toht."
―Toht, greeting Qi'ra on Savareen[3]

Toht Ra was a male Hylobon who served as member of Dryden Vos' security forces,[3] working as an attendant aboard the First Light. Ra confiscated all weapons brought aboard the yacht by guests. He carried a percussive cannon and vibrocutlass in case of trouble.[4] Qi'ra, Vos' lieutenant later used Ra's weapon when she fought Vos.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

In answering a fan question about whether or not Toht Ra's name derives from the Indiana Jones franchise, Phil Szostak noted that the character was named after Arnold Ernst Toht, the Gestapo agent from the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark (written by Lawrence Kasdan) who burns his hand on the headpiece to the Staff of Ra, though he suspects that Lucasfilm Story Group's Pablo Hidalgo was most likely the one who came up with the name.[6]

Notes and references[]

  1. Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide dates the Kessel Run depicted in Solo: A Star Wars Story: A Junior Novel to nine years after the formation of the Galactic Empire. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the formation of the Empire to 19 BBY, the aforementioned Solo events must take place in 10 BBY. As Toht Ra's death aboard the First Light on Savareen occurs shortly after the Kessel Run, it can deduced that his death occured in 10 BBY.
