"The Wanderer" is a short story that was published in Myths & Fables. The story was authored by George Mann, illustrated by Grant Griffin, and published on August 6, 2019. A Jedi known as "The Wanderer" comes in aid of a town at a time of need, fighting back pirates and insectoids.

Plot summary[]

According to legend, a kind The Wanderer would appear and aid the city of Solace on the planet Cerosha. The wanderer was said to have aided the village three times.

The first time the wanderer appeared they faced a group of pirates that had setup camp in the mountains outside the city. The city tried raising a militia to deal with the pirates but their citizens were poorly trained and were quickly sent back to the city. Some time later the Wanderer arrived and talked with those that had suffered. After watching a nighttime raid take the Wanderer promised to help the city. The next morning the Wanderer departed for the mountains. After a day away the Wanderer returned and the citizens found the pirate camp abandoned and their stolen goods left behind.

Many years later the city have expanded and had begun a large mining operations. However after drilling deep into the crust the the miners awoke a hive a creatures. The creatures burrowed into houses and stole children to feast on. Eventually the Wanderer returned and destroyed the mining site with his glowing sword. He then went the the city's central square and began to meditate. The creatures emerge from their burrows and followed the Wanderer as he led then through the gates and back to their nests.

More years later the city experienced a new threat. Raging storms from the Boralic Sea crashed against the city walls threatening to break through and destroy they city. While the citizens made plans to evacuate the Wanderer yet again returned. The wanderer raised his arms above his head and seemed to hold back the waves. For nearly an hour the Wanderer battle the storm before the storm finally broke and the city was saved once again. But the wanderer was never seen again.
