Not sure exactly what this page is for? Is it defining the word saga and how that relates to Star Wars?--Vitus InfinitusTalk 19:30, May 29, 2018 (UTC)

  • I think it's worth having a page about the 9 episodic films like how we have Star Wars Anthology Series, Untitled Star Wars trilogy, etc but it would definitely need to be framed differently than "Saga" for sure. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 20:35, May 29, 2018 (UTC)
    • That would be good, I'd definitely support having this page re-written to do reflect that. Maybe the name could be changed to something like, Star Wars Episodic Film Saga? Some variation of that perhaps?--Vitus InfinitusTalk 20:47, May 29, 2018 (UTC)
      • If we have a page (we should wait for other opinions first) then Lucasfilm usually tends to refer to it as the "Star Wars saga" so on first glance that seems most appropriate. But I'd want to dig into SW.com and other press releases a bit more to see what the most consistent terminology is. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 20:48, May 29, 2018 (UTC)
        • Good idea.--Vitus InfinitusTalk 20:49, May 29, 2018 (UTC)
          • hey, guys. sorry for all the confusion!

this started off as reading about the crawl wikia page, and that got me thinking, "the crawl's only used for the saga" (which is what i've always heard it referred to as). so that got me looking for a saga page (i could find the anthology page, but not one for these films.

another way to look at it: how do these films belong and relate to each other? episode i belongs to the larger russian nesting doll of the prequel trilogy, but what is the larger russian nesting doll the prequel trilogy belongs to? (i think the even larger russian nesting doll should be called "star wars film franchise", but that's another article.) with the "a star wars story" films it's easy—there was a press release telling us what to call them. with the "episode" films, it's harder, because there was never any official statement (that i know).

i don't think it should be called "episodic film saga" as episodes are how they are divided; saga speaks to the greater whole. i went with "saga" over "star wars saga" (which i think should definitely redirect here), as there are SO MANY entries prefixed with "star wars," already—visibility. of course, "saga" is going to refer to the star wars saga on the star wars wikia, but i also see the importance of keeping things uniform.

(i also don't know how to sign my page. is there no visual editor for talk?)--Wiseacre (talk) 01:04, May 30, 2018 (UTC)

Anthology Films[]

Even though they're not Episode numbers, should (anything about) Rogue One and Solo go anywhere in this article? --Retro Reed (talk) 15:29, December 15, 2018 (UTC)

Star Wars Saga vs Skywalker Saga[]

I think we should make 2 pages:

  • 1. Skywalker Saga is only for Episodes 1-9 and should only be about them.
  • 2. Star Wars Saga is for EVERYTHING all of Star Wars, 11 live action movies, 1 animated movie, Mando TV show, Rebels and Clone Wars Cartoons. not just the Skywalker part of it. Chasemarc (talk) 14:13, May 8, 2020 (UTC)
    • No, the saga is confirmed to be the episodic films. You're confusing saga with franchise. The Star Wars franchise would encompass everything within number 2 and more.--Vitus InfinitusTalk 16:41, May 8, 2020 (UTC)
