Talhovi was a Mid Rim world located in the Juvex sector. It was the homeworld of the Mekuun family, with whom the Ancient Houses of the Senex-Juvex region had prohibited trade. Talhovi nevertheless remained economically powerful and exported goods such as Talhovian ale.

Description[]

Talhovi was a world located in the Talhovi system of the Juvex sector, a part of the Senex-Juvex region in the Western Reaches portion of the Mid Rim. It was connected via hyperlanes to the K'ath, Little Talhovi, and Thull's Vault systems.[1]

Inhabitants[]

Talhovi was a cosmopolitan world that was home to the Mekuun family. The Mekuuns had originally been one of the aristocratic Ancient Houses of the Senex-Juvex, but, while rebelling against the other Houses around the time of the region's tumultous 553 BBY political event known as the Crimson Days, their House had dissolved itself and had sought to reconstitute itself as a sector of the Galactic Republic.[1]

The other Ancient Houses had subsequently prohibited trade with the Mekuuns; however, Talhovi's economic power and steady flow of desirable exports,[1] which included the beverage known as Talhovian ale,[2][3] allowed the family to continue its experimenting with an alternate form of governance. Talhovi attracted both merchants from outside the region and members of the other Houses who chose to ignore the trade prohibition.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Talhovi was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. Although the Talhovi system was placed in grid square K-18 on the book's map of the Senex-Juvex, its Appendix section[1] as well as the later StarWars.com Online Companion to the book both erroneously placed it in square L-18 instead.[4]

(backup link) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Talhovian ale in relation to the Talhovi system and specifically Talhovi.
