The Stellar Halo was a battlecruiser that served as part of the Imperial-aligned Kuati Sector Forces during the Galactic Civil War, in which the Galactic Empire fought the Alliance to Restore the Republic and later its successor state, the New Republic. Along with the rest of the Kuati Sector Forces, the Stellar Halo guarded the shipyards of the planet Kuat. Rebel forces attacked Kuat in 8.5 ABY, managing to take control of Kuat even with the protection of the Kuati Forces. In the wake of the battle, undercover Imperial agents activated the Stellar Halo's hyperdrive, sending it into Kuat's sun and destroying it.

History[]
Part of the Galactic Empire–affiliated Kuati Security Forces[1] as of 8.5 ABY,[2] the Stellar Halo guarded the planet Kuat with the rest of the Kuati fleet. The planet, home to the Kuat Drive Yards, had long been a key shipyard for the Galactic Empire and its predecessor, the Galactic Republic. With the Galactic Empire fighting the Alliance to Restore the Republic and its successor state the New Republic during the Galactic Civil War, Kuat was attacked in 8.5 ABY by the New Republic, as military forces attempted to seize the shipyards from the Empire.[1]
Arriving in the Kuat system, the RZ-1 A-wing interceptors of the New Republic Surprise Squadron soon disabled the systems of the battlecruiser Luminous and three Star Destroyers using their ion torpedoes, while a virus caused the warship Event Horizon and four Star Destroyers to turn against the rest of the fleet. After the New Republic Minister of Commerce, Ral'Rai Muvunc, informed the lead Kuati officials that the Republic controlled thirty-four percent of the KDY stocks, Kuat surrendered to the Republic as they faced an enemy that could disable nine warships in a matter of minutes and controlled a substantial portion of the company. Shortly after the battle, undercover Imperial agents managed to activate the Stellar Halo's hyperdrive and launched it into Kuat's sun, thus destroying the battlecruiser.[1]
