A gold ring was owned by Supreme Leader Snoke of the First Order, who wore it on the index finger of his left hand. Etched on the ring were glyphs of the Dwartii, and the top of the ring featured a piece of obsidian from the Sith cave on Mustafar. Snoke wore the ring prior to and during the Battle of Oetchi in 34 ABY, where he was killed.
Description[]
Made of gold, the ring was gold in color and inscribed with glyphs of the Dwartii. Affixed to the top was a black shard of obsidian,[1] which was carved from the Sith cave located beneath Fortress Vader on the planet Mustafar.[4]
History[]
Created by between 28 ABY and 34 ABY,[2] the ring was found at Fortress Vader by Snoke, Supreme Leader of the First Order, who wore it on the index finger of his left hand.[3] Snoke wore the ring when training his apprentice, Kylo Ren, in both the Rarlech system and on[5] the planet[6] Dagobah.[5] He also wore the ring while aboard his[7] flagship, the Supremacy,[6] to give Ren and General Armitage Hux a mission to show the people of the planet Karaxis the strength of the First Order. After the planet was successfully brought under the control of the Order, the Supreme Leader again wore his ring as he spoke with his apprentice about a presence the latter had sensed while on the planet.[7]
In 34 ABY,[6] Snoke wore the ring while aboard the Supremacy during[8] the Battle of Oetchi.[9] As Snoke sat upon his throne during the engagement, he was betrayed by Ren, who used the Force to bisect him with the Skywalker lightsaber. The blade also cut through both of Snoke's wrists, leaving his left hand—still wearing the ring—lying upon the arm of his throne as he died.[8] Sometime later the same year,[10] a statue of Snoke wearing his ring was put on display by[11] the Ithorian collector Dok-Ondar at his shop, the Den of Antiquities, on the planet Batuu.[12]
Behind the scenes[]
Snoke's ring first appeared in the 2017 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi.[8] Art of the ring was drawn by Robert Rowley, a costume concept artist for the film, and was labeled as "SNOKE RING" in The Last Jedi's art book.[13]
