Seswenna was an Outer Rim Territories planet located in the Seswenna sector. By 3699 BBY, Seswenna lay on what would eventually become the Hydian Way super-hyperroute. However, the Hydian Way had shifted by 1004 BBY to go through the Eriadu system instead. During the late period of the Galactic Republic's rule, Seswenna served as the sector capital, but that status would similarly pass to the planet Eriadu over time.

The future Imperial admiral Conan Antonio Motti was born on Seswenna. By the time the Empire reigned, the planet temporarily housed the Death Star superweapon project as well as Imperial Military shipyards.

Description[]

Seswenna was a planet[5] located in the Seswenna system. It was a part of the Seswenna sector,[1] within the Trailing Sectors portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1]

History[]

Under the Republic[]

As part of the Seswenna Expansion between 3701 BBY and 3699 BBY, a new hyperlane was charted. It extended from the Malastare system in the Mid Rim and ran through the Grumani sector's Darkknell system and Seswenna before terminating at the Clak'dor system, in the Mayagil sector.[2]

Eriadu

The planet Eriadu eventually overshadowed its neighbor Seswenna.

The route would eventually be integrated into a super-hyperroute known as the Hydian Way.[2] However, over time, many traders traveling down the Hydian Way chose to deviate from the route in favor of the loop known as the Eriadu Bypass,[4] and by 1004 BBY, the Hydian had shifted to run through the neighboring Eriadu system instead of Seswenna.[2]

Seswenna served as the capital world of the Seswenna sector during the last century of the existence of the Galactic Republic. By that time, a movement was growing inside the sector that called for the acknowledgment of economic reality and transferring the status of capital to the planet Eriadu. Indeed, Eriadu would eventually become the administrative center of the sector upon the ascension of the Republic Governor Wilhuff Tarkin to the rank of Grand Moff within the Galactic Empire.[4]

Rise of the Empire[]

Seswenna temporarily housed the headquarters of the Death Star superweapon project.

Years before the conflict known as the Clone Wars took place, the Human Conan Antonio Motti was born on Seswenna. Motti would eventually go on to serve as an admiral with the Imperial Navy.[6] Following the end of the Clone Wars in 19 BBY, Seswenna temporarily became the headquarters for the Imperial project developing the Death Star superweapon after it was moved from the Arkanis sector planet Geonosis. The project was eventually relocated again to the Patriim system.[2]

During the reign of the Empire, Seswenna shared its name with the Carrack-class light cruiser Seswennan Nightcloak.[7] The planet was orbited by Imperial Military shipyards by the time of the Galactic Civil War, fought between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. At some point before the Battle of Endor, a Special Ops Team of Alliance Special Operations exploited a weakness in the security network of the shipyards in order to wreak havoc upon the Imperial military operations.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Seswenna was first mentioned in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a 1993 sourcebook written by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Seswenna system, and therefore the planet Seswenna, in grid square M-18.[2]
