"Fortunate, tragic Sanrafsix sits at the intersection of the Duros Space Run and the eponymous Sanrafsix Corridor."
―A cartographical survey and field report by Vannar Treece[2]

Sanrafsix was an Outer Rim Territories world located in the Grumani sector. Situated on the Duros Space Run and Sanrafsix Corridor hyperlanes, during the New Sith Wars Sanrafsix was a cosmopolitan trade hub, a fact which doomed the world when it could not maintain quarantine during a Candorian plague outbreak and was forced to isolate its groundside population, all of whom eventually succumbed to the lethal disease.

Decades later, Sanrafsix was the site of a Jedi victory over the forces of the Sith. Later a part of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and then the Galactic Empire, eventually Sanrafsix fell under the control of the Imperial splinter faction Eriadu Authority, and during a New Republic assault there in 5 ABY, the famed Imperial pilot Shea Hublin fell in combat.

Description[]

Sanrafsix was a terrestrial[2] world[4] located in the Sanrafsix system,[1] a part of the Grumani sector[2] in the Trailing Sectors portion of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] Sanrafsix was situated at the intersection of the Duros Space Run hyperlane, which connected it to the Aplooine and Heptooine systems, and the Sanrafsix Corridor, which linked it to the Fostin system.[2]

History[]

A doomed world[]

"The orbital stations of Sanrafsix are presumably still in business, though which Sith Lord holds sway here is a matter of debate."
―A cartographical survey and field report by Vannar Treece[2]
Battle of Sanrafsix New Sith Wars

During the New Sith Wars, the Jedi were victorious over the Sith at Sanrafsix.

Space surrounding Sanrafsix was explored between 15,000 BBY and 8000 BBY,[1] and the world had become a part of the Galactic Republic by 12,000 BBY.[3] During the last century of the New Sith Wars, which were fought between 2000 BBY and 1000 BBY, the Candorian plague swept through the Republic's territory.[1] Sanrafsix was unsuccessful at maintaining a quarantine during the first year of the outbreak and as a result isolated the population of its surface, condemning those inhabitants to inevitable death.[2]

In a cartographical survey and field report on the Grumani sector compiled[2] by 1032 BBY,[5] Jedi Master Vannar Treece noted the history of Sanrafsix, which[2] he[6] characterized as both fortunate and tragic. Treece also speculated that the orbital stations circling the world were still operational but noted that it was not clear to the Republic which Sith Lord held control over Sanrafsix at the time.[2] Between 1004 BBY and 1000 BBY, Sanrafsix was situated in territory held by the Sith and was the site of a Jedi victory at some point during that period.[1]

Following the Sith wars[]

"Eriadu endures."
―The last words of Shea Hublin, uttered during a battle at Sanrafsix[3]

The famed pilot Shea Hublin fell in battle at Sanrafsix.

During the Clone Wars of 22 BBY19 BBY, Sanrafsix fell within the borders of the Confederacy of Independent Systems,[1] with the Republic's Fifteenth Sector Army being charged with engaging the Confederacy's military forces in the world's vicinity during the first campaigns of that conflict. By 17 BBY, Sanrafsix was a part of the Galactic Empire.[3] Due to Sanrafsix's location on strategic hyperspace routes, Rebel Alliance Intelligence established an outpost on the nearby Mayagil sector world Reyniu during the Galactic Civil War.[4]

When the Empire began to fragment following the Battle of Endor of 4 ABY, Sanrafsix was incorporated into the territory claimed by the Eriadu Authority,[1] the Imperial splinter faction of the self-styled Superior General Sander Delvardus.[7] Late in the following year, the New Republic launched a merciless assault at Sanrafsix.[1] During that battle, the famed Imperial pilot Shea Hublin died in combat against a flight of enemy starfighters,[3] and the borders of the Eriadu Authority were reduced as a result of the confrontation.[1]

Inhabitants[]

"Because this hub of trade and cosmopolitan cultural exchange could not maintain quarantine during the first year of the Candorian outbreak, it ultimately isolated its groundside population to inevitable death."
―A cartographical survey and field report by Vannar Treece[2]

By the time of the New Sith Wars, Sanrafsix was a cosmopolitan hub of trade and cultural exchange, but those traits proved its undoing when the world's surface population was wiped out by the Candorian plague.[2] Sanrafsix was known for[4] its notable spice-smuggling system[1] during the Galactic Civil War,[4] and the world's population around 25 ABY numbered between ten and one hundred million.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Sanrafsix was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square N-17.[1]
