- "Each of our worlds has been brutalized by the Syndicates."
- ―Enfys Nest, on the Cloud-Riders including Regineer Teed
A species of sentient humanoid with yellow-and-blue skin and a pair of protruding tusks existed in the galaxy by the time of the reign of the Galactic Empire. Regineer Teed was a member of the species who, in 10 BBY, was part of the Cloud-Riders pirate gang, with the membership of the group being drawn from worlds victimized by the Five Crime Syndicates. Nineteen years later, several members of the same species were also present in various Outer Rim Territories locations.
Biology and appearance[]
A humanoid sentient species[1] had two legs and two arms with a five-fingered hand each. It had yellow-colored skin with blue stripe-like mottling. The species' head had two black eyes, no visible nostrils, and a mouth with two protruding tusks.[2]
Regineer Teed's species in the galaxy[]
Regineer Teed[2] was a member of the species who was active during the reign of the Galactic Empire. They were a part of the Cloud-Riders, a multi-species group of pirates who were led by the human Enfys Nest and each of whom hailed from a world that had fallen victim to the depredations of the Five Crime Syndicates.[1] In 10 BBY,[3] Teed and the other Cloud-Riders arrived on[1] the Outer Rim Territories planet[4] Savareen. There, they confronted the human thief Tobias Beckett and his partners in order to make them turn over a shipment of valuable coaxium hyperfuel—which the Cloud-Riders intended to use to finance resistance against the Empire. During the confrontation, Teed and the other pirates stood guard at the fuel refinery where Nest pled their case to Beckett's gang, with all of the Cloud-Riders at one point removing their helmets and masks to further emphasize their leader's points.[1]
Later, the Cloud-Riders prepared an ambush for the enforcers of the Crimson Dawn syndicate who were traveling to Savareen to retrieve the coaxium from Beckett. The pirates disguised several of the allied Savarian human locals as themselves—with one masked individual standing in for Teed—while the Cloud-Riders concealed themselves. The ruse allowed the marauders to subsequently overpower the syndicate forces, and ultimately, the gang secured the hyperfuel for themselves.[1] In 9 ABY,[5] members of Teed's species were present among the cheering spectators of an underground gladiator fight in[6] the Carnita arena on an Outer Rim planet;[7] on a sea-port dock on Trask,[8] a moon in[9] the Outer Rim's Arkanis sector;[10] and in the Garsa Fwip's Sanctuary cantina in the Mos Espa settlement on[11] the Arkanis sector planet[10] Tatooine.[11]
Behind the scenes[]
- "As the script developed, it became as they were in the end, all different races or species representing their homeworlds that had been mistreated by the Empire."
- ―Jake Lunt Davies
The species of which Regineer Teed was a member was created for the Star Wars Anthology Series film Solo: A Star Wars Story,[1] which released on May 25, 2018,[13] and in which the character was portrayed by Dee Tails.[14] The first full image of Teed was published on StarWars.com on February 10, 2018,[15] with a cropped version of the same photo in which only the character's arm was visible being included in[16] the February 9, 2018 issue of[17] the Entertainment Weekly magazine.[16] On May 19, 2018, Teed was also featured in a trailer for Solo made of LEGO parts that was released on the official Star Wars YouTube channel.[18]
