Rattatak was a mountainous planet located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories. After killing the warlords responsible for the death of Jedi Knight Ky Narec, former Jedi Padawan Asajj Ventress ruled Rattatak until she was found and recruited by former Jedi Master Count Dooku, a Sith Lord.

Located in the the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories, in grid square H-16 on the Standard Galactic Grid,^[1] Rattatak^[11] was a mountainous planet orbited by at least one moon.^[3] It was the homeworld of the Rattatakian redjacket.^[6]

At some point prior to the Clone Wars, the Siniteen enslaver Hal'Sted was killed by Weequay raiders^[7] during a pirate uprising,^[13] leaving his slave, a young Dathomirian named Asajj Ventress, orphaned. She was found by Ky Narec, a human^[7] Jedi Knight stranded on Rattatak,^[9] who recognized her potential and began to train her in the ways of the Force^[7] as his Padawan. For ten years, they helped the people of Rattatak, becoming enemies to some but heroes to most,^[9] until he was killed while defending a Rattataki village from a Weequay raider assault, leading Ventress to give in to her grief and fall to the dark side.^[7] She vowed vengeance and killed the warlords responsible for her master's death, ruling Rattatak in their place.^[9] In 23 BBY,^[14] the Vollick warlord Osika Kirske led Ventress into a trap when she attempted to kill him, using himself as bait. Ventress was captured and forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena. During one of Ventress' fights, the Sith Lord Dooku visited the arena in search of an assassin, watching Ventress from Kirske's viewing gallery. Choosing to take Ventress as his Sith apprentice, Dooku used his lightsaber to behead Kirske, killing the warlord.^[5]
