RIC-series general labor droid

The RIC-series droid was a general purpose labor droid manufactured by Serv-O-Droid, Inc. They were in operation during the last centuries of the Galactic Republic.

The RIC-series was a reliable, yet unsophisticated, labor automaton, roughly humanoid in shape, and propelled by a pair of disc-mounted treads that could reach speeds of 65 kilometers per hour. The arms ended in three fingered gripper hands that could bend metal but were still dexterous enough for delicate repair work. The design remained unchanged for centuries. RIC droids possessed limited artificial intelligence, with only rudimentary programming to carry out their tasks. They could converse in two languages, usually Basic and binary, but other language skillware could be swapped in.^[1]

RIC droids found fame as nuna-ball players^[1] during the leadup to the Clone Wars; the Serv-O-Droid team beat AccuTronics' B1 team in a Nuna-Ball League game on Commenor. The agility, speed and endurance of the RIC droid team proved effective against the stronger B1 side. These games were popular among the patrons of several Coruscant nightclubs, including the Outlander.

Other RIC-series droids found work as rickshaw drivers on Outer Rim worlds such as Tatooine, including ES-PSA who worked in Mos Espa.
