R5-G19 was an R5 series astromech droid[2] that served in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire.[3] In 4 ABY,[4] the astromech droid was stood beside another astromech in the briefing room of the[3] MC80 Star Cruiser[5] Home One when members of the Alliance leadership, including Admiral Gial Ackbar, Mon Mothma, and General Crix Madine, gave a briefing to the assembled rebels on their plans to attack the Empire's Death Star II superweapon in the Endor system. The Home One later took part in the successful attack.[3]
R5-G19 stood 97 centimeters tall and as an R-series droid was manufactured by Industrial Automaton.[1] It had black sensors and white and burgundy plating.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
R5-G19 was created for the 1983 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.[3] The briefing room scene was filmed on Stage 5 at Elstree Studios between February 12 and February 25 in 1982.[6] The droid was first identified in 2014 when it received an action figure in the Star Wars: The Black Series line released by Hasbro.[2]
