Oseon 8920 was an asteroid located in the Centrality's Oseon system. It was home to a criminal environment that made it resemble a miniature version of the infamous shadowport moon Nar Shaddaa. The Kubaz former holovid director O'lif Khaz once maintained an apartment on Oseon 8920. Sosten Freet, the agent of the famous singer Ema Slake, planted in the apartment one of Slake's trophies he had stolen and subsequently hired a group of individuals to investigate the theft. When investigators found the missing trophy at Khaz's apartment, Freet had Khaz arrested for burglary, thus deflecting attention from himself.

Oseon 8920 was an asteroid located in the Oseon asteroid belt, a part of the Oseon system.^[2] It was situated in the Centrality sector, a part of the Slice portion of the Outer Rim Territories.^[1] Along with the rest of the Oseon system, Oseon 8920 orbited the Oseon sun^[3] and was connected by the Falko Run hyperlane to the Arleen system, while the hyperspace route known as the Cadma Conduit linked it to the Erilnar system and the^[1] Cadma sector's^[4] Dagelin Minor and Simbarc systems.^[1]

History[]

At some point, Sosten Freet, the agent of the galaxy-renowned singer Ema Slake, stole more than a half of the latter's silicate trophies. In order to frame Slake's former holovid director, the Kubaz O'lif Khaz, for the crime and thus deflect attention from himself, Freet hired a group of individuals to investigate the theft. The process led the group to an apartment—where Freet had planted one of the missing awards—that Khaz, wanting to evade a loan shark producer, maintained on Oseon 8920.^[2]

There, the former director revealed to the investigators that Slake's retired manager, Phaldri Nex, may have been privy to information regarding the theft of the trophies. Eventually, during the visit at Khaz's apartment, one of the investigators discovered the planted trophy. At that time, Freet appeared in the apartment in what was staged to be a coincidence and had the Kubaz arrested for burglary, although Khaz loudly proclaimed his innocence. Subsequently, Freet thanked the individuals, who were also financially compensated for their efforts. Upon leaving Oseon 8920, the group was captured by thugs affiliated with Nex, who, suspicious of Freet's involvement in the theft, later sent the group to break into the residence Slake's agent had on the asteroid Oseon 5631.^[2]

Inhabitants[]

Oseon 8920 was one of the several locations in the Oseon system that harbored criminal elements and thrived on its resultant odious reputation. Resembling a miniature version of Nar Shaddaa^[2]—a notorious shadowport moon in Hutt Space^[5]—Oseon 8920 sheltered such individuals as gamblers hiding from loan sharks; loan sharks seeking to evade racketeering charges; and occasionally tourists wanting to economize on safer lodging.^[2] The Oseon Peacekeepers,^[3] the police force of the Oseon system, once intended to eliminate Oseon 8920's criminal environment but eventually relented as it proved too valuable as a source of information.^[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Oseon 8920 was mentioned in the Wizards of the Coast roleplaying game source article "A Campaign Guide to the Centrality," which was authored by Michael Kogge and published in Star Wars Gamer 5^[2] on July 24, 2001.^[6] In "A Campaign Guide to the Centrality," the asteroid serves as a setting for a roleplaying adventure hook, which this article assumes plays out as described.^[2]

"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game source article published in the thirteenth issue of the Voyages SF magazine, placed the Oseon system, and therefore Oseon 8920, in the Zebitrope sector. Since that article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed.^[7] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas subsequently overrode the Voyages SF placement by establishing that the Oseon system was situated in grid square T-8 as part of the Centrality.^[1]
