- "Akk dogs are commonly seen as Jedi pets or companions. I first encountered these animals on Ord Canfre's ExplorCorps outpost, but didn't think there was anything unusual about the bond they shared with their trainers."
- ―Jedi Master Bowspritz, The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force
Ord Canfre was an Outer Rim Territories world located in the Cassander sector. Having served as a Galactic Republic Ordnance/Regional Depot outpost during the Pius Dea Era, millennia later Ord Canfre hosted a facility of the Jedi Order's Exploration Corps. While there, the Jedi Bowspritz first encountered akk dogs. During the Clone Wars, the Republic surrendered the world to the Confederacy of Independent Systems after the Battle of Ord Canfre. Ord Canfre came under the control of the Pentastar Alignment and Imperial Remnant decades later, and its star system was conquered by the Yuuzhan Vong during their invasion of the galaxy.
Description[]
Ord Canfre was a world[6] located in the Ord Canfre system.[1] It was a part of the star cluster[7] that eventually became known as the Cassander subsector, a part of the Cassander sector[1] in the New Territories portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1]

Jedi Bowspritz first encountered akk dogs (an akk dog pictured) at Ord Canfre.
Ord Canfre served as an Ordnance/Regional Depot outpost for the Galactic Republic during the Pius Dea Era, a period of time between 12,000 BBY and 11,000 BBY, despite the planet being located outside the borders of Republic space.[4] At some point more than ten millennia later, the Exploration Corps of the Jedi Order maintained an outpost there. At the outpost, the Jedi Bowspritz first encountered akk dogs, Force-sensitive creatures[3] native to[9] the planet[10] Haruun Kal.[9] The akk dogs present at the Ord Canfre outpost had been domesticated, although at the time Bowspritz had not viewed the bond that the animals had shared with their trainers as anything unusual. The Jedi would later note that visit to Ord Canfre in the[3] 990 BBY[11] Jedi trainee guidebook The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force.[3]
During the Clone Wars, a Republic force,[6] including a Jedi-led Ailon Nova Guard unit,[12] fought the military of the Confederacy of Independent Systems[6] in the Battle of Ord Canfre, which would become known as a debacle.[12] The Republic was forced to[6] surrender the world[8] to the Confederacy,[6] a fact that was noted in a headline of a 14:2:14 release of the CIS Shadowfeed news and propaganda program.[8] By 20 BBY, Ord Canfre was still considered to be a Confederate-aligned world.[5]
Ord Canfre was situated in the territory controlled by the Pentastar Alignment between 4 ABY and 12 ABY,[2] and it fell within the borders of the Imperial Remnant from 12 ABY to 13 ABY.[4] The Ord Canfre system was attacked by the military forces of the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong species during its conquest of the galaxy at some point between 25 ABY and 26 ABY. The star system was still under the control of the invaders by 27 ABY.[2] In 36 ABY, the Republic's loss of Ord Canfre during the Clone Wars was noted in a document by the Historical Council of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.[6]
Behind the scenes[]
Ord Canfre was first mentioned in "CIS Shadowfeed Dispatch 14:2:14 Edition," an article written by Pablo Hidalgo as an in-universe news report. It was published in the sixty-fifth issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine[8] on January 21, 2003.[13] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Ord Canfre system, and therefore Ord Canfre itself, in grid square K-5.[2]
