Owen Lars and his nephew, Luke Skywalker, were moisture farmers.
A moisture farmer or vapor farmer was an individual who operated a moisture farm,[1] using vaporators to harvest excess humidity in the atmosphere.[2] On sun-scorched worlds like Tatooine, many settlers in the desert were moisture farmers.[3] Notable examples included members of the Lars family, such as Cliegg, his son Owen, and the latter's wife Beru.[4]
Moisture farmers built their homesteads to be partially buried in the ground, as this protected them from wind and heat and kept the residence cool.[5] Many farmers would use flyhorn lizards to indicate their humidity yield.[6]
