- "Three months ago, an entire Commerce Guild hub on Minntooine was raided, its residents slaughtered. No real military target. The intent was only terroristic murder."
- ―Wullf Yularen
Minntooine was a strategic planet controlled by the Commerce Guild prior to and during the Clone Wars, holding major corporate interests of the guild. Later, following the guild's signed allegiance with the Separatist Alliance, the Confederacy transformed the planet into a stronghold for their wartime purposes. During the war, Minntooine was protected by a force of Commerce Guild Diamond-class cruisers, Recusant-class light destroyers, and Commerce Guild corvettes and bombers.
At some point between 20 BBY and 19 BBY, the Commerce Guild had established a hub on the planet's surface. However, after the disappearance of the rogue Roonian Galactic Republic Commander Mekedrix, the hub was raided by the Death Wind execution squad, which was led by Mekedrix and set the entire city in flames, with its residents killed.
Description[]
A strategically positioned[1] terrestrial[2] planet,[3] Minntooine was situated along[1] the super-hyperroute[4] known as the Perlemian Trade Route.[1]
History[]
- "It isn't aligned with the Separatists either. A handful of high-ranking members from various councils in the Confederacy have also been killed."

The mentally broken Mekedrix (pictured) led a raid against a Commerce Guild hub on Minntooine.
Prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars, which was fought between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems[3] between 22 BBY and 19 BBY,[5] the powerful galactic corporation known as the Commerce Guild had claimed governance over Minntooine. While under the guild's influence, the planet, alongside several others such as Saleucami, Escarte, and Mooga, served as a location of major corporate interests for the organization. Later, following the beginning of the war, in which the Commerce Guild had allied with the Separatists, the confederate government gained influence over Minntooine. It and several other guild-affiliated worlds were transformed into strongholds for the Confederacy's war effort, and the planets were protected with forces of Commerce Guild Diamond-class cruisers, Recusant-class light destroyers, corvettes, and bombers.[3]
Later in the conflict,[2] at some point between 20 BBY and 19 BBY,[6] the Commerce Guild had established a hub on Minntooine's surface. However, following a massacre on[2] the planet[7] Devaron[2] in 20 BBY,[6] the Roonian Republic Commander Mekedrix was left mentally broken and eventually disappeared, only to re-emerge leading the Death Wind execution squad in a series of ambushes and raids against both Republic and Separatist forces. The Commerce Guild hub on Minntooine was targeted alongside several other locations. During the raid, the guild's city was set in flames as several explosions went off, with guild residents being killed in the process. Three months later, Republic Admiral Wullf Yularen informed Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker about Mekedrix's raid on Minntooine.[2]
Locations[]
At some point by 19 BBY,[6] the Commerce Guild had established a hub on Minntooine's surface. The city spanned several structures, with tiles spreading across its surface, and it was home to several residents.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
In the current Star Wars canon, Minntooine was introduced via mention in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[3] The planet later made its first visual appearance via flashback in the fourth issue of the Star Wars: Obi-Wan comic series,[2] which was authored by Christopher Cantwell, illustrated by Madibek Musabekov, and published by Marvel Comics on August 31, 2022.[8] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Minntooine was introduced in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections, a 2005 reference book authored by James Luceno.[9]
