"I've only ever known one Wayseeker. Jedi Meli Day. Even when we were younglings she talked about going out on her own. She always got caught vanishing into the forests around the temple."
"To do what?"
"To listen to the Force, she used to say."
―Gella Nattai and Enya Keen[1]

Meli Day was a Zeltron female Jedi who lived during the High Republic Era and made friends with fellow youngling Gella Nattai. Eventually, the Zeltron chose to become a Jedi Wayseeker, confident she wanted to seek the Force in her own way. While on the Alif-class Longbeam Paxion in 382 BBY, Nattai told Padawan Enya Keen about growing up with Day, noting that she was the only Wayseeker she knew.

Biography[]

"I never thought we were anything alike. And I know not all Wayseekers are the same, just as not all Jedi are the same. But Meli was so certain."
―Gella Nattai to Enya Keen, about Meli Day[1]

Meli Day grew up alongside Gella Nattai (pictured) in a Jedi temple, while both were younglings.

The Zeltron female Meli Day was a Force-sensitive individual who joined the Jedi Order as a Jedi youngling during the High Republic Era. She grew up in a Jedi temple alongside human youngling Gella Nattai. Day often wandered into the forests surrounding the temple, telling Nattai she wanted to listen independently to the Force and strike out on her own. However, the latter girl felt she could not relate to her friend and envied the Zeltron's certainty in herself. At some point afterward, Day opted to become a Wayseeker and operate outside the purview of the Jedi High Council.[1]

While on the Alif-class Longbeam Paxion[1] in 382 BBY,[2] Nattai—now a Jedi Knight—reminisced on growing up alongside Day to the Padawan Enya Keen. When Keen asked Nattai why she had not gone through with becoming a Wayseeker herself, the latter internally reflected that she had mixed feelings about her future path, unlike Day's firm resolve to pursue a specific course. However, the Jedi Knight only briefly replied to the Padawan that it was not the right step for her.[1] However, later that same year,[3] Nattai petitioned the Jedi Council to become a Wayseeker and was granted their approval.[4]

Personality and traits[]

As a youngling, Day expressed an eagerness to pursue her own path in following the Force, a passion she eventually followed by becoming a Jedi Wayseeker. The Zeltron had pink skin.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Meli Day was mentioned in Convergence, a 2022 novel written by Zoraida Córdova as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II.[1]
