At least two Evereni individuals lived during the High Republic Era and were part of the Ro family. By around 397 BBY, they had become the grandparents of two Evereni girls, Yana and Marda Ro. While the family lived on the planet Genetia, they were attacked by townspeople and the grandparents were killed, though Yana and Marda were able to escape along with their mothers. In 382 BBY, Yana recalled the deaths of her grandparents when she thought about how she had joined the Path of the Open Hand cult.

Biography[]

At least two Evereni individuals were members of the Ro family during the High Republic Era. At some point, they had at least two children.[2] Around 402 BBY,[3] one of their children became the parent of an Evereni girl named Yana Ro,[2] and another of their children became the parent of an Evereni girl named Marda Ro[2] around 397 BBY.[1]

Yana Ro recalled the death of her grandparents during the attack while she was a member of the Path of the Open Hand.

Between around 397 BBY and 387 BBY,[1] when the girls were a very young age[4] and the family lived on[2] the Expansion Region[5] planet[6] Genetia, the family was attacked by townspeople who believed them to be the cause of failing crops. The attack resulted in the deaths of the cousins' grandparents, as well as Yana's sire. The girls, however, were able to escape Genetia because of how viciously Marda's sire had fought to ensure they could escape, and because the two's mothers killed a family of Theelins and took their ship.[2]

After the attack, Marda and Yana made their way to the Outer Rim planet Dalna[2] as refugees[7] and became members of the Path of the Open Hand cult. Yana remembered the events of their last night on Genetia, though she knew the things Marda remembered were scattered and nonsensical.[2] In 382 BBY,[1] when considering the circumstances of how the members of the Path's Children—a group who obtained Force artifacts for the Path's leader[2] Elecia Zeveron[4]—had come to the Path, Yana mentally recalled the attack on her family and the deaths of hers and Marda's grandparents.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The grandparents of Marda and Yana Ro were mentioned in the 2022 young-adult novel The High Republic: Path of Deceit, written by Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[2] Phase II.[8]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 The High Republic: Path of Deceit states that members of the Path of the Open Hand receive full membership at the age of fifteen, and also mentions that Marda Ro recently became a full member. As Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of Path of Deceit to 382 BBY, Marda must have been born around 397 BBY. The novel also establishes that Yana Ro had been considering leaving the Path for five years, meaning she must have been a member of the Path by 387 BBY. Therefore, the attack on the Ro family, including the death of Marda and Yana Ro's grandparents, must have taken place between 397 BBY and 387 BBY.

  3. Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of The High Republic: Path of Deceit to 382 BBY. As Path of Deceit establishes that Yana Ro is twenty years old during its events, she must have been born around 402 BBY.
