"My name is Maeve Cuilinn."
―Maeve Cuilinn[1]

Maeve Cuilinn was a human female Jedi during the High Republic Era. In 382 BBY, she used the Force to save a group of members of the Path of the Open Hand cult from an out-of-control speeder in the Holy City on the moon Jedha. Afterward, Cuilinn was treated with contempt by the Abednedo Whool when she tried to help him due to his and the Path's distrust of Force-users.

"No! No. You're a Jedi. Leave me be!"

Maeve Cuilinn was a Jedi who lived during the High Republic Era.[1] In 382 BBY,[2] Cuilinn was present on the pilgrim moon Jedha when a Togruta lost control over his speeder in the Holy City and was about to crash into a crowd of members of the Path of the Open Hand, a Force-cult that had arrived on the moon not long before. Cuilinn used the Force to prevent the vehicle from crashing into the crowd. All the Path of the Open Hand disciples, except for an Abednedo named Whool, ran away. Cuilinn put down the floating speeder by lowering her hand. While the people around her applauded her, the Jedi noticed Whool.[1]

The Abednedo, who was lying on the ground, was left behind by the other Path of the Open Hand members. She offered to help him, but the Abednedo declined the help as the Path of the Open Hand distrusted all users of the Force, including the Jedi Order. Whool expressed his negative feelings towards the Jedi by shouting and scrabbling away. Even after Whool told the Jedi to leave him alone, she kept offering to help him. Keth Cerepath, the young adjunct of the Church of the Force, a Force-religion on Jedha, who had watched the encounter, stepped in and offered his help while assuring Whool that he was not a Jedi. Cerepath advised Cuilinn to let him help the Path of the Open Hand member. Because Cuilinn noticed that her presence was causing Whool's distress, she agreed and left the two.[1]

A terrible accident[]

"There's been a freak accident. Outside the Dome of Deliverance. A speeder went haywire and crashed into a line of pilgrims. Four people are dead, including the driver."
"What?"
"I know. Shocking, isn't it? Apparently, the same speeder nearly hit someone earlier in the market, but thankfully a Jedi was there to stop them. Shame they weren't around later, too."
―Piralli and Keth Cerepath[1]

Keth Cerepath and Whool spoke about Cuilinn in the tapbar Enlightenment (pictured).

Together, Cerepath and Whool visited the tapbar Enlightenment, and the adjunct asked the Path of the Open Hand member why he was so afraid of the Jedi and why he had declined the woman's help. Whool answered that she had used the Force to help him. He then explained the teachings of the Path of the Open Hand and why using the Force was wrong according to his beliefs.[1]

After Cuilinn had gone away, the Togruta drove by the Dome of Deliverance with his speeder. The vehicle malfunctioned again and crashed into a group of pilgrims, killing four people, including the driver. Later, the Sullustan[1] dock worker[3] Piralli found out about the accident. He visited Enlightenment and informed Cerepath about the news. When Cerepath voiced his confusion about the accident, Piralli told the human that it was the same speeder that was stopped by Cuilinn before. The Sullustan expressed his sorrow that the Jedi was not there to stop the speeder again.[1]

Personality and traits[]

"Are you hurt? Let me help you up."
―Maeve Cuilinn, to Whool[1]

Maeve Cuilinn helped people in need while in Jedha City (pictured).

Maeve Cuilinn was a pale-skinned, human female with red and white streaked hair. Like many Jedi, Cuilinn was a helpful person. When she saw that a speeder was about to crash into a crowd, Cuilinn immediately tried to eliminate the danger by stopping the speeder. When the Path of the Open Hand member Whool did not want her help, she was confused, and it was hard for her to accept that he did not want her help. She tried to find an explanation from the crowd for why the Abednedo was so dismissive. Cuilinn was able to recognize that her presence was causing distress to Whool and left the situation.[1]

Powers and abilities[]

Cuilinn was Force-sensitive. When concentrating, she was able to use the Force power telekinesis to stop a moving speeder and make it float more than a meter above the ground.[1]

Equipment[]

As a Jedi, Cuilinn wore brown and white Jedi robes. Her apparel included a belt with a holster to carry the metallic hilt of a lightsaber.[1]
