A kaleidoscope was a type of toy made of a tube containing multi-colored glass fragments. When one placed his eye on the viewing slot, the glass fragments would create an optical illusion resembling rotating jewels. At some time prior to 19 BBY, the Serennian Romar Adell rescued a kaleidoscope from Serenno City in which he lived following its destruction by the Galactic Empire and took it to his home in the planet's upper forest region close to Castle Serenno.[1]
When the Bad Batch, a rogue team of genetically defective clones were stranded on the Forest Region following the failure of their attempt to steal part of Count Dooku's war chest from the Imperial unit that was extracting it, Romar was forced by Echo to take them in his house. There, he gifted Omega the kaleidoscope and explained its purpose to her as she thought it contained real jewels part of Dooku's treasure. According to Romar, it was a toy made to give people joy, and that was more important than any treasure. Inspired by Romar, Omega returned to the crash site of one of the containers carrying the chest and attempted to recover it, with Echo and Romar running after her. Following a brief firefight with the stormtrooper clones guarding it, the Bad Batch was able to escape aboard their Omicron-class shuttle, the Marauder. Before their departure, Romar gave Omega the kaleidoscope, asking her to never forget what he told her.[1]
