"Ah. That's a shame. I'm rather handy when it comes to misaligned intake regulators."
"Misaligned… Try it."
―Silandra Sho and Inoke, the latter hammering a speeder's intake regulator into place — (audio) Listen (file info)[3]

Inoke was a Force-sensitive Kel Dor disciple of the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door dark side religion who lived in the Holy City of the moon Jedha during the High Republic Era. In 382 BBY, Jedi Master Silandra Sho helped him fix a malfunctioning speeder. The next day, during the Battle of Jedha, the Brothers were hired to kill Sho by Tilson Graf of the hyperspace-prospecting Graf family. When Inoke and two other Brothers confronted Sho, the Jedi quickly killed them instead.

Biography[]

"Inoke!"
―Baarla cries out for Inoke upon the latter's death — (audio) Listen (file info)[3]

Jedi Master Silandra Sho (pictured) killed Inoke during the Battle of Jedha.

Inoke was a Kel Dor disciple of the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door dark side Force religion during the High Republic Era.[2] In 382 BBY,[1] he lived alongside the other Brothers in a temple in the Holy City of the moon Jedha.[2] That year,[1] Inoke was in a street of the city with two other Brothers, Mytion and Baarla, when one of their speeders misfired, startling a crowd. Jedi Master Silandra Sho spotted them, and after her friend, the Church of the Force adjunct Keth Cerepath, explained who the Brothers of the Ninth Door were, Sho approached them while they tinkered with the speeder. She offered her assistance before pointing out that the speeder's intake regulator was misaligned. Having not realized this, Inoke then hammered the intake regulator back into place and told the other Brothers to try running the speeder, which fired up normally.[2]

The next day, during the Battle of Jedha, the Brothers of the Ninth Door were paid by Tilson Graf of the hyperspace-prospecting Graf family to kill Sho, hoping to prevent the Jedi from figuring out that Graf, the Brothers, and the anti-Jedi Path of the Open Hand cult had plotted to start the battle. Inoke, Mytion, and Baarla then confronted Sho in the Holy City's Dome of Deliverance, with all three wielding electrostaffs. Shortly after the fight began, Sho slashed her lightsaber across Inoke's chest, killing him and causing Baarla to cry out his name. Sho then killed Baarla and eventually took down Mytion with the help of Cerepath.[2]

Personality and traits[]

Like all Brothers of the Ninth Door, Inoke spoke with a triple-layered voice, sounding as if three people were talking at once.[2]

Powers and abilities[]

"They have a bit of a…dubious reputation. I've heard it said that they have a tendency toward the dark side of the Force."
―Keth Cerepath, telling Silandra Sho about the Brothers of the Ninth Door — (audio) Listen (file info)[3]

Inoke fought with an electrostaff but was swiftly killed in combat against Jedi Master Silandra Sho. Brothers of the Ninth Door such as Inoke were Force-sensitive and had a tendency toward using the dark side of the Force, possessing the unique ability to alter others' perceptions of what they were using the Force.[2]

Equipment[]

"Who are those people with the speeder? Do you recognize them?"
"Yes. Members of a sect known as the Brothers of the Ninth Door. You can tell by the bone masks they wear. It's said they fashion them from the skulls of their own dead."
―Silandra Sho and Keth Cerepath — (audio) Listen (file info)[3]

As with his fellow Brothers, Inoke wore a skull mask. He wielded an electrostaff during the Battle of Jedha.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Inoke appeared in the audio drama The High Republic: The Battle of Jedha, which was written by George Mann[3] and released on January 3, 2023 as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic initiative's Phase II,[4] although Inoke's voice actor was unspecified.[3] The spelling of the character's name was confirmed by the release of the audio drama's script[2] on February 14 of that year.[4]
