The Imperial labor camp was a labor camp overseen by the Galactic Empire located on the planet Erebus. It consisted of a large walled-off prison facility and a mining facility where prisoners were forced to work.[1] In 18 BBY[2] the facility housed, among others, disgraced former Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart,[1] imprisoned after the reveal of his involvement with the attack on Kamino,[3] and was commanded by a warden. During that time, Clone Force 99 infiltrated the facility by hijacking one of the HCVw A9 turbo tanks utilized as prisoner transports and extracted Rampart to acquire the location of Tantiss Base from him.[1]

Description[]

Erebus prison gate

The fortified gate of the labor camp perimeter

The Imperial labor camp was a prison located in the planet Erebus which was overseen by the Galactic Empire. The main facility was a massive walled-off fortress topped off with a tall tower and a single gate utilized by the HCVw A9 turbo tanks prisoner transports. A heavily fortified road led from the prison to a mining installation on the shores of a lake where prisoners worked in alternating shifts in grueling conditions, while retractable roadblocks and observation towers ensured the security of the prison perimeter. In the event of an incident, several Low Altitude Assault Transports staffed with TK stormtroopers were on standby to intervene, while scouts constantly patrolled the grounds to deter attackers. Mined materials were taken off-world aboard class four container transports escorted by Rho-class transport shuttles.[1]

History[]

In 18 BBY,[4] Imperial Navy Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart was arrested after Senator Riyo Chuchi revealed his connection to the attack on Kamino, resulting in his disgrace and sentencing by Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine himself.[3] Following the arrest, Rampart was taken to the Erebus prison where he was to serve a sentence as a labor worker.[1]

Later during that same year,[2] Clone Force 99 infiltrated the facility after the Advanced Science Division tracked them down on the island sanctuary of Pabu and invaded the city, forcing Omega to surrender. Since the whereabouts of Tantiss Base where she was taken were unknown, Force 99 decided to extract and interrogate Rampart for the coordinates and planned an infiltration of Erebus with the help of pirate Phee Genoa. After successfully making their way through the site perimeter, Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair boarded the transport carrying Rampart after the end of his shift, knocked out the TK stormtroopers manning it and commandeered the vessel. The ruse was however discovered by the warden who dispatched another Juggernaut, Transport Two, to destroy theirs before it crossed the bridge leading to the prison grounds. The Bad Batch managed to disable the Imperial transport and break through the bridge fortifications, making their way out of the perimeter and into a canyon. There, they were attacked by LAATs who dropped TK troopers on the roof of the transport, but the Bad Batch were able to shake them off with the assistance of Genoa and her ship, the Providence, and escaped Erebus with Rampart.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Per the reasoning here, Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch takes place around 18 BBY. The tally marks made by Omega in The Bad Batch Season 3's first episode, "Confined," indicate the episode must take place at least 21 standard days following her capture, as depicted in the Season 2 episode "Plan 99." According to StarWars "Confined" Trivia Guide | Star Wars The Bad Batch on StarWars.com (backup link), Omega then spends about one hundred and sixty-four further days in captivity by the end of "Confined." As such, the events of Season 3 must begin around 18 BBY and carry on from there.
  3. 3.0 3.1 TBBtemplate Star Wars: The Bad Batch — "Truth and Consequences"
  4. Per the reasoning here, the seventh and eighth episodes of The Bad Batch Season 2, "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences," can be placed in 18 BBY. Therefore, all Season 2 episodes proceeding "The Clone Conspiracy" occur between 19 BBY, which features the end of The Bad Batch Season 1 according to Star Wars: Timelines, and 18 BBY. The Galactic Empire, the formation of which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY, sent Mayday's squad to Barton IV over a year prior to the events of the twelfth episode, "The Outpost." As it occurs over a year into the Imperial Era and is set shortly after the events of "Truth and Consequences," the events of "The Outpost" occur around 18 BBY. Following that logic, the ninth through eleventh episodes ("The Crossing" through "Metamorphosis") are also set around 18 BBY because they occur between the events of "Truth and Consequences" and "The Outpost." Finally, all season 2 episodes set after "The Outpost" occur shortly after its events, thereby placing those episodes around 18 BBY as well.
