Huttese[3] was a writing system used on Nal Hutta,[2] the homeworld of the Hutt species.[6] It was also used on Tatooine, a world controlled by the Hutts;[1] on the planet Lothal,[5] and by the computer system in Vranki's Hotel and Casino, an establishment ran by the Hutt Vranki the Blue.[4] The alphabet was notable for using different symbols for lowercase and uppercase letters.[2][4] It also had symbols for numbers.[4][5]
History[]
Republic Era[]
Gasgano's podracer in the Boonta Eve Classic had a Huttese M painted on its engine. The same character was displayed on the cockpit module of Teemto Pagalies' podracer.[1]

Huttese signage at the Bilbousa Basaar
The sign over the entrance to the Bilbousa Bazaar on Nal Hutta was written in Huttese and read "Bilbousa". A vertical yellow sign on the Bilbousa saloon used the same script, reading "SALOO[obscured] (presumably "SALOON"). The sign over the entrance to one of the businesses read "pablo's pawnshop" [sic], while a vertical sign at the top of the building read "[image begins]wnshop"; presumably "pawnshop". The starships at the ship stall were lit up with holographic signs written in Huttese, that were projected onto the hull.[2]
A poster in the bazaar showed a musical band with a caption reading "Live at the Cantina".[7] A poster inside the saloon showed the famous podracer Sebulba and read "Autographs Saturday at 10 AM".[8] Next to it, there was a poster showing the silhouette of a feminine looking Twi'lek doing a pole dance, with a Huttese caption reading "Dancers every FRIDAY NIGHT!!".[2]
The logo of a traveling intergalactic circus attraction run by Preigo said "Preigo's Carnival" in Huttese. However, when Petro read the sign, he misread it as "Preigo's Traveling World of Wonders."[3]
Imperial era[]

all debts claimed
Some of the wall murals in the Capital City of Lothal were written in this script. One read "all debts claimed", another read "We have what you need" and "For The Right Price", while a third sign read "52 7"[5]
New Republic Era[]
When Neeku Vozo hacked into Vranki the Blue's computer system, Vozo's datapad first read "Systems status:", "Sensor array-", "Weapon system-" in Huttese. While Vozo was pinned down by Vranki's Kowakian monkey-lizards, "HIA500%", "HEA57%" and "POWER50%" appeared at the bottom of the tablet.[4]
The grill at Ronto Roasters at Black Spire Outpost Market[9] was decorated with a Huttese R, the initial of the restaurant.[10]

During the filming of Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, Huttese characters were used on Shmi Skywalker's headstone.[11]
A hand-posted bill created for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Missing in Action" shows a Snivvian encased in carbonite with the accompanying text "interior decorator wanted; call Jaba [sic] for appointment".[12] Yet, the bill does not actually show up in the episode.[13]
A variant cover of War of the Bounty Hunters – Jabba the Hutt 1 features Huttese writing at the bottom,[14] though when translated it makes no sense.
The Concept Art Gallery for the Star Wars: The Bad Batch episode "Rampage" on StarWars.com shows a set of bottles designed for Cid's Parlor, including one with a Huttese label. However, the writing is so small that it is hard to decipher the name properly.[15]
Huttese is used for untranslated NPC dialogue in the non-canon video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.[16]
