Hoom was a Phlog male on the Forest Moon of Endor. In 3 ABY, his little brother Nahkee was kidnapped. He and his parents, Zut and Dobah, found evidence—planted by the witch Morag—of Ewok involvement. They thundered toward the Ewoks' Bright Tree Village, running into several other Ewoks along the way, all of whom they shouted at and scared.

When they reached the village, the Ewok warriors' defense was no match for the towering Phlogs. However, before they began their butchery, several woklings brought Nahkee back, having recovered him from the Duloks with whom Morag had placed the baby. Hoom and his family were delighted to have Nahkee back—they scared away the Duloks, who had followed the Ewoks, and made peace with Bright Tree Village.

To Hoom it may concern[]

Hoom was a young Phlog male who lived on the Forest Moon of Endor. He was the son of the Phlogs Zut and Dobah and the older brother of Nahkee.^[1] In 3 ABY,^[3] Hoom and his family traveled to the area around Bright Tree Village on Endor, which was home to the Ewoks. While their parents were busy, Hoom entertained Nahkee by blowing leaves off a plant and having them rain down, much to his little brother's amusement. Zut then requested Hoom's help with a boulder, so Hoom dutifully ran over. An unsupervised Nahkee then trailed off into the forest, where he was kidnapped by the witch Morag. The witch then planted evidence to imply that the Ewoks had been behind the crime, trying to get the Phlogs to attack their village.^[2]

Meanwhile, Dobah realized Nahkee was missing and alerted her husband and son, who rushed over in dismay. Hoom noticed tracks leading away—he and his parents followed them and found Ewok clothing and weapons at the end, so they concluded that the Ewoks must have taken their son, with Morag cackling to herself as she watched. The Phlogs stomped away toward the village, and Zut ran into four woklings. The young Ewoks ran away into a hollow log, in which they rolled off a cliff and into a river. Hoom and Dobah joined Zut, peering over the precipice at the now-swimming Ewoks. They bellowed "Ewoks!" at them but were unable to reach them.^[2]

The three Phlogs eventually reached more Ewoks, and Dobah accused them of stealing her baby, which the Ewok shaman Logray translated for the rest. He and Chief Chirpa deduced that Morag must have framed them, but the Phlogs then launched a boulder at the cliff, tearing a chunk of it off and forcing Logray to use magic to save the woklings Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka and Latara. Hoom, Zut, and Dobah continued clamoring at them in their language.^[2]

In for a Phlogging[]

Hoom and his parents ultimately reached the village proper, whose warriors were geared up for battle. Dobah began by throwing a boulder at the Ewoks, to which they responded with a rock of their own—however, though it hit Zut's chest, he brushed it off as though it was a pebble. Morag looked on excitedly as the Phlogs prepared to trample Bright Tree Village, but just before they started, the woklings Wicket Warrick, Teebo, Kintaka, and Latara returned with Nahkee from the Dulok Swamp, where Morag had hidden the baby. The commotion awoke Nahkee, whose bawling distracted his family from decimating the Ewoks. Dobah ran over to pick him up and was followed by Hoom and Zut, who welcomed the baby back.^[2]

Nahkee told his family that the Ewoks had saved him, and just then, the Duloks arrived to recover their captive. Their king, Gorneesh, began to demand him back, but he trailed off at the sight of the imposing Phlogs. Zut thus realized who had really been holding his son hostage, and he scared them off by stomping his foot, much to the mirth of the woklings. He then shook hands with Logray, acknowledging the Ewoks as the Phlogs' friends, and he and his family walked away.^[2]

Personality and traits[]

Hoom enjoyed making his brother giggle, and he was quick to help his father. He became furious at the kidnapping of Nahkee. Hoom had light brown skin and reddish hair, and he spoke the Phlog language.^[2]

Equipment[]

Hoom wore a purple loincloth.^[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Hoom first appeared in "Rampage of the Phlogs," the third episode of the animated series Ewoks' first season,^[2] which aired on September 21, 1985.^[4] He was voiced by John Stocker.^[5]
