The Harrod's Planet system was a part of the Outer Rim Territories' Oplovis sector. The system contained the star Harrod, which was orbited by Harrod's Planet and was situated on the Braxant Run hyperlane. Harrod's Planet housed the base of the Imperial Oplovis Sector Fleet during the Galactic Civil War. Following a Rebel Alliance attack in the Yuvern system, the Sector Fleet withdrew to Harrod's Planet. The fleet later spent six months in covering range of its base until finally being deployed to the Atrivis system by 2 ABY.

Description[]

The Harrod's Planet system was located in the Oplovis sector,[1] a part of the New Territories portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It contained the star Harrod, which was orbited by[3] the terrestrial world Harrod's Planet,[4] the system's only habitable world.[3] The Harrod's Planet system lay on the Braxant Run hyperlane, which connected it to the neighboring Ketaris system as well as the Lahara sector's Mirgoshir system.[5]

History[]

During the Galactic Civil War, the base of the Oplovis Sector Fleet of the Galactic Empire was located on the surface of Harrod's Planet.[4] Following an unexpected attack by a Rebel Alliance battle line in the Yuvern system, the Sector Fleet withdrew to Harrod's Planet. The starship of the Yuvernian smuggler Cane Adiss, which had been undergoing an Imperial inspection at the time of the attack, was also forced to regroup with the fleet at its base, although Adiss later left the system in order to return to his smuggling mission.[6]

Gaen Drommel

Harrod's Planet served as the base of the Oplovis Sector Fleet, commanded by Admiral Gaen Drommel.

Two months after the skirmish in the Yuvern system,[4] Gaen Drommel[3] was appointed as the new admiral of the Oplovis Sector Fleet, which spent the following six months in covering range of its base on Harrod's Planet without performing any major military actions. Alliance Intelligence Commander Zgorth'sth later speculated that the new admiral spent the first two months processing paperwork and taking official control of the fleet, which was followed by four months of maneuvers intended to shake down both the personnel of the force and the new command structure.[4]

At some point by 2 ABY,[7] the Alliance probe droid D-127X became stationed on the edges of the Oplovis sector, from where he monitored the transmissions of the Sector Fleet. Among the signals recorded by the droid were high-density coded bursts sent from the flagship of the fleet down to the base on the surface of Harrod's Planet. Eventually, four weeks after the start of D-127X's mission, the Oplovis Sector Fleet left Harrod's Planet in order to attack the Alliance army located on the Atrivis sector planet Mantooine but was defeated in the Atrivis system by an Alliance battle line.[4] A decade later, between 12 ABY and 13 ABY, the Harrod's Planet system was situated within the borders of the Galactic Empire's successor state, the Imperial Remnant.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

The Harrod's Planet system was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square M-5.[2]

  7. The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, Second Edition depicts Rebel Alliance General Vernan as being alive shortly before the battle in the Atrivis system, which was eventually preceded by D-127X's mission to the edges of the Oplovis sector. Alliance Intelligence Reports further establishes that Vernan had died by the time of the sourcebook's setting. Since Alliance Intelligence Reports represents a collection of in-universe reports from "one year before the Battle of Hoth"—corresponding to 2 ABY per The New Essential Chronology—the engagement in the Atrivis system must have occurred at some point by 2 ABY.
