Situated in the Outer Rim Territories' Oplovis sector, the Yuvern system contained the planet Yuvern, home to the two-headed, snakelike Yuvernian species. The Yuvern system was at some point visited by the Quor'sav trader Kal'Falnl C'ndros, who took the Yuvernian Cane Adiss from his homeworld and trained him to become a pilot. Upon becoming a smuggler for the crime lord Jabba, Adiss was sent back to Yuvern to deliver a cargo of illegal spice.

Arriving in-system, however, Adiss encountered the entire Oplovis Sector Fleet of the Galactic Empire and was forced to let Imperial inspectors aboard his starship. At that point, the Imperial fleet was unexpectedly attacked by a Rebel Alliance force and retreated to Harrod's Planet. Adiss was ordered to transport the Imperials aboard his ship to regroup with the rest of the fleet, after which the smuggler returned to Yuvern and finished his assignment for Jabba.

Description[]

The Yuvern system was located in the Oplovis sector,[1] a part of the New Territories portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It contained a planet of the same name.[3]

History[]

Cane Adiss

The Yuvernian Cane Adiss hailed from the Yuvern system and was present during a battle there.

At some point, the Quor'sav trader Kal'Falnl C'ndros visited the planet Yuvern. C'ndros took the Yuvernian Cane Adiss, who longed to leave his homeworld, offworld and taught him to become a pilot. Adiss eventually became a spice smuggler in the employ of the Hutt[3] crime lord,[4] Jabba.[3]

The Yuvernian's first assignment,[3] given by 2 ABY,[5] took him back to his homeworld. Upon arriving in the Yuvern system, Adiss discovered that the entire Oplovis Sector Fleet of the Galactic Empire was also present. The smuggler was forced to let Imperial inspectors aboard his starship; however, before Adiss's illegal cargo could be discovered, the Imperial fleet was unexpectedly attacked by a Rebel Alliance battle line. The Imperial officer aboard Adiss's ship then ordered the Yuvernian to regroup with the rest of the retreating fleet at Harrod's Planet. After transporting the Imperials per his orders, Adiss returned to Yuvern and finished his assignment for Jabba.[3]

Eight months later, the Oplovis Sector Fleet raised its supply requisitions from the Imperial Navy by 4.1 percent. When Rebel Alliance Intelligence Commander Zgorth'sth learned of that fact, he acted upon a hunch and reviewed operational records he had briefly read nine weeks prior. While he was scanning the records, Zgorth'sth recalled the engagement between the Oplovis Sector Fleet and the Alliance battle line but did not remember the location of the battle and had to look it up. Zgorth'sth's analysis of the Oplovis fleet's activities since the engagement in the Yuvern system eventually led the commander to arrange for Alliance assets to monitor the fleet.[6]

Inhabitants[]

The Yuvern system[1] planet of the same name was the homeworld of the sentient Yuvernians, a species of long,[3] two-headed, snakelike aliens.[7] The Yuvernians were already known to the wider galaxy[8] by 6900 BBY.[9]

Behind the scenes[]

The Yuvern system was first mentioned in The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, a 1990 West End Games supplement authored by Paul Murphy and published for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[10] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the system in grid square M-5.[2]

  5. Databank title Adiss, Cane in the Databank (content now obsolete; backup link) places Cane Adiss's first mission in the employ of Jabba the Hutt at the same time as the battle in the Yuvern system. In addition, The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, Second Edition states that Rebel Alliance General Vernan was still alive eight months after that engagement. Finally, Alliance Intelligence Reports establishes that Vernan had died by the time of the sourcebook's setting. Since Alliance Intelligence Reports represents a collection of in-universe reports from "one year before the Battle of Hoth"—corresponding to 2 ABY per The New Essential Chronology—Adiss must have traveled to the Yuvern system on behalf of Jabba at some point by 2 ABY.
