- "When in trouble, Gungans go to sacred place."
- ―Jar Jar Binks
The Gungan Sacred Place,[2] also known simply as the Sacred Place,[3] was in an ancient forest.[4] It became sacred to the Gungans, a sanctuary for troubled times. During the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo, Queen Padmé Amidala was guided there by Jar Jar Binks to meet Boss Nass, and together they formulated a plan to retake their homeworld.[1] After the Battle of Naboo, the Gungans took their fallen warriors to the sacred place. They invited Amidala to attend the funeral, though as there was no time the queen sent Eirtaé and Yané in her place.[5]
Behind the scenes[]
According to Forces of Nature: The Wild Spaces and Wilder Creatures of the Star Wars Galaxy, the Gungans and Naboo humans coming together in an ancient forest is an example of the "symbiotic relationship" of nature and all the life forms who live within it. This symbiotic concept was developed by George Lucas for the Prequel trilogy.[4]
