"We've taken a look at the world around us—Coruscant, whose very name means glittering—and found it wanting. On a world of luxury, we don't have the luxury to marvel at the heights, or be distracted by the views. We peer into the shadows, so our neighbors don't have to be afraid walking through them to get home."
―Tanivos Divo delivers his graduating speech at the Federal District Police Academy[1]

The Federal District Police Academy, also known as FedPoAcad, was an academy for law enforcement located in the planet Coruscant's Federal District. The human Tanivos Divo earned a scholarship to the institution and graduated in 7593 C.R.C. as valedictorian before joining the Coruscant Security Force. His daughter, Andressa Divo, then attended during the reign of the Galactic Empire and joined the Imperial Security Bureau after graduating.

Description[]

"Applying himself in his academic study, he earned a scholarship to the Federal District Police Academy at age sixteen. He graduated valedictorian at FedPoAcad, speaking before the session's roster of 4,500 newly minted deputies, with stirring words, excerpted here."
―Exantor Divo, on his grandfather, Tanivos Divo, Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious[1]

The Federal District Police Academy, also known as FedPoAcad, was a law enforcement academy in the Federal District of the planet Coruscant. Its graduates could join the Coruscant Security Force and later the Imperial Security Bureau.[1]

History[]

"Tan Divo retired with honors within the early years of the Empire. His daughter, Andressa, was eager to continue the family tradition of service, and enrolled in the same academy as her father. Upon graduation, however, a new avenue was available to Andressa that was not to her father: the Imperial Security Bureau."

Watching his father be extorted by criminals while growing up on Level 3215 of Coruscant during the reign of the Galactic Republic instilled a rigid sense of justice and fairness in the human Tanivos Divo, who earned a scholarship to the academy at the age of sixteen after applying himself to his academic studies. He graduated in 7593 C.R.C. as valedictorian and spoke from a podium before the 4,500 newly minted deputies of that session's roster. In his speech, he spoke of the importance of policing and why the students had chosen that career. Divo began his career as a patrolman but went on to become an inspector and lieutenant within the Coruscant Security Force.[1]

After Divo retired with honors in the early years of the Galactic Empire's reign, his daughter, Andressa Divo, enrolled in the Federal District Police Academy. Eager to continue the Divo family tradition of service, Andressa was devoted to justice and absorbed the speeches of Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine and his cabinet, aiming to join the Imperial Security Bureau while studying at the academy. By 7965 C.R.C., she had achieved her goal after graduating, eventually also earning the rank of inspector.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Federal District Police Academy was mentioned in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo and included an illustration of the academy by Raph Lomotan.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Coruscant Police training academies for the Coruscant Security Force were mentioned in Galaxy at War, a 2009 supplement for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game published by Wizards of the Coast.[2]
