The Electro-photo receptor was a type of simple sensor which combined normal, ultraviolet and infrared light to create a picture of the target, whether two-dimensional or holographic. The sensor's range was determined in part by the size of its receptor, with larger dishes allowing for detection at greater range. EPRs also worked in conjunction with targeting sensors in order to form an image of the targeted object on the gunner's display.[2]

Examples included a Tana Ire Electro-Photo Receptor which was combined along with a Melihat "Multi Imager" dedicated energy receptor and a Fabritech ANs-5d "lock track" full-spectrum transceiver in what was known as a Carbanti transceiver package.[1]
