Delemede was an Outer Rim Territories astronomical object located in the Rseik sector. Overseen by a Galactic Republic governor, Delemede was struck by a plague around 3643 BBY. At that time, the governor refused to provide medical aid to Sith Empire refugees on Delemede, but he eventually changed his mind.

In 212 BBY, Bosbit Matarcher, a native of Delemede, left the celestial body on a faulty starship. Upon the engagement of the vessel's jump drive, Matarcher was transported 190 years into the future. When Matarcher was subsequently interviewed by HoloNet News, he claimed his homeworld had prospered during his decades-long trip and that he intended to return there.

By 3643 BBY,^[5] Delemede was a member of the Galactic Republic and was administrated by a governor. That year, a plague broke out on the celestial body, and the governor denied medical aid to a group of refugees from the reconstituted Sith Empire.^[3]

Subsequently, a Republic-allied individual dispatched a companion who reminded the governor that if he helped more people, the Republic would in turn grant him more resources. As a result, the governor acquiesced and granted the refugees treatment.^[3]

Time-traveler's home[]

The Human Bosbit Matarcher^[4] was born on Delemede^[6] in 247 BBY.^[7] When he was 35 standard years old, Matarcher, who had acquired a Delemedian starhopper starship, engaged the vessel's jump drive while on a^[4] regular,^[6] two-hour-long trip in the Delemede system. Due to the starship's faulty relativistic shielding, the starhopper—and Matarcher himself—was propelled 190 years into the future.^[4]

On the date 13:3:21, Matarcher's story was reported on from Wozin, Delemede in an issue of the CoCo District Edition of the HoloNet News. When interviewed, the accidental time-traveler compared the "shoddy" and "run-down" home on Delemede he had left behind to the celestial body that was thriving^[4] by 22 BBY.^[7] Matarcher also expressed his desire to return to Delemede, although, given his experience, he stated he would fly transit.^[4]

Behind the scenes[]

Delemede was first featured in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #48, an in-universe issue of the HoloNet News^[4] written by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens^[8] and published on the HoloNet News website on March 21, 2002.^[9] Hidalgo crafted Bosbit Matarcher's story in that issue as a reference to the satirical news article "134-Year-Old Man Attributes Longevity To Typographical Error" from The Onion.^[10] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Delemede system, and therefore Delemede itself, in grid square N-20.^[2] Delemede was subsequently mentioned in a Diplomacy Crew Skill mission of the 2011 BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, though the information regarding the mission's outcome was later removed from the game.^[3]
