"Now return the program to your command center."
―Nute Gunray to OOM-9 — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

The Deactivated Camp was a Trade Federation base built during the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY. It contained the forces of the droid Commander OOM-14, which were rendered immobile by the loss of a droid control program until it was recovered by the droid OOM-9.

Description[]

The Deactivated Camp was built on the planet Naboo by the Trade Federation during the company's invasion of the world in 32 BBY. It contained a single command center built on a grassy area south of the city of Harte Secur. A stone path began at the east of the camp and stretched north to Harte Secur. The camp was surrounded by herds of falumpasets and nerfs, and the surrounding area included natural resources such as muja fruit bushes, nova crystals, and ore deposits.[1]

History[]

"Without it, a subset of our formidable battle droids stand motionless on the battlefield."
―Nute Gunray, speaking of the lost droid control program and the droids at the Deactivated Camp — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]
Force Command Two

The capture of the droid control program deactivated the battle droids at the camp.

The camp belonged to the Trade Federation Droid Army battle droid Commander OOM-14, who was in charge of one of five droid control programs that were necessary to keep the Federation's droids active. OOM-14 lost the program to the Royal Naboo Security Forces unit Force Command Two, and it was taken to a Harte Secur Research Center and used to deactivate OOM-14's[1] division,[2] numbering 72 B1-Series battle droids and eight missile battle droids, at the camp.[1]

Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray tasked the droid OOM-9 with retrieving the droid control program, sending him to the Deactivated Camp along with a Neimoidian technician. OOM-9 and a small force of droids raided the research center and reacquired the droid control program, bringing it to the camp and reactivating the droids there. Afterward, OOM-9 used the droids to destroy Harte Secur,[1] remaining at the camp along with five B1 battle droids—which he garrisoned inside the command center—two missile droids, and the technician.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

"Establish a base of operations."
―Nute Gunray in an unused audio file — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

The Deactivated Camp was first mentioned in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide by Steven L. Kent,[2] released on November 7, 2001.[3] It appeared and was identified in the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds,[1] released on November 11, 2001.[4] The Deactivated Camp is featured in the second level of the Trade Federation campaign, "Behind the Lines," where its command center becomes available to the player after retrieving the droid control program.[1]

The player can create OX9 labor droids, with which they can create more buildings and expand their army.[1] However, the strategy guide states that creating extra units is unnecessary as the battle droids acquired upon retrieving the program are sufficient to achieve victory.[2] Unused audio files from the level feature Gunray instructing the player to establish a camp and gather resources.[1]
