"The lightsaber of Darth Atrius. A powerful weapon. So much rage was channeled through this blade, they say it still resonates with the anger Atrius wielded when he cut down his enemies."
―A crime lord, speaking about one of Darth Atrius' lightsabers[1]

Darth Atrius was a male Sith Lord who lived during the time the Sith were plentiful and powerful. He wielded two crossguard lightsabers. At some point after the Battle of Yavin, the smuggler Sana Starros recovered his pair of crossguard lightsabers. She took one to a crime lord on Hradreek whilst selling the other to the Galactic Empire. Both sabers were later destroyed by Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

Biography[]

Darth Atrius Lightsabers SWAnnual 4

Darth Atrius' lightsabers, both crossguards but differed in appearance.

Darth Atrius lived during a time when the Sith were a powerful and dominating force in the galaxy. During his life he constructed a pair of crossguard lightsabers that he used in battle. Atrius used the sabers to strike down many opponents and claim many victories. Over time Atrius' rage infected the lightsabers, and had the ability to bring out the inner rage of the bearer, forcing them into a killing frenzy. Atrius eventually died, but his sabers survived.[1]

Legacy[]

Millennia after his death, Atrius' lightsabers were discovered by the smuggler Sana Starros, who had been hired to retrieve the weapons by a crime lord on Hradreek. One of the lightsabers was delivered to the crime lord, while the other saber was sold by Starros to the Galactic Empire, on the orders of Emperor Palpatine. Attempting to deceive both parties, she gave one saber to each employer, hoping they wouldn't take notice of the missing second saber. The Imperial officer she gave one of the sabers too was pleased with the saber, unaware that the Emperor was looking for the pair. Starros then gave the second saber to the crime boss, but was called out on her deceit.[1]

The crime boss ignited the blade and began questioning the smuggler on the location of the other saber, and fell into a frenzy, killing all of his men. The Imperial officer presented the saber to Darth Vader, who planned to hand over the sabers to his Master, Darth Sidious. When Vader learnt of the missing saber he executed the officer and set off to recover the other. Meanwhile the rebel pilot Luke Skywalker entered the room in which the crime boss had slaughtered his crew and found the lightsaber on the floor. He used the weapon to slaughter a squad of Imperial Stormtroopers who discovered him with the corpses. To avoid more Imperial forces Skywalker stole a nearby podracer and fled in it, but crashed shortly after. Realizing he had evaded the Empire, Skywalker decided that the lightsaber was too dangerous to be kept in one piece, and used his lightsaber to destroy Atrius' blade.[1]

Meanwhile Vader ran into a group of thugs who Starros had hired to keep the Imperials off her back, he utilized the weapon to kill all of the thugs. He proceeded to track Starros to a warehouse where she had set an ambush for him—Starros detonated the roof of the warehouse, crushing Vader and allowing her to escape. After escaping the rubble, Vader observed Skywalker leaving, and decided that the saber was too unpredictable, crushing it.[1]
