Darred Janren Naberrie, formerly known as Darred Janren and occasionally as Darred Naberrie, was a male architect from the planet of Naboo. Janren met fellow student Sola Naberrie at a university, and the two were married around 28 BBY, following their graduation. Darred took Naberrie as a surname, as the couple both recognized the value behind the name of House Naberrie. Darred and Sola had two children together: Ryoo and Pooja.

Darred's wife, Sola Naberrie

Darred Janren was a male native to[1] the planet[3] Naboo.[1] Janren's maternal grandmother was named Pooja.[4] While young[2] and studying to be an architect at a[5] prestigious[6] Naboo university, Janren met another student, Sola Naberrie, and the two entered into a relationship.[7] Following their graduation, Sola and Darred got married[6] around 28 BBY,[8] halfway through the reign of Sola's sister Padmé Amidala as Queen of Naboo.[7] The wedding made Janren a part of the influential House Naberrie, and the couple agreed to retain the Naberrie surname due to its value in business,[6] political, and social contexts within Naboo culture.[2] This choice rendered Darred's full name as Darred Janren Naberrie,[3] although he was sometimes referred to as Darred Naberrie.[4]

The wedding of Darred and Sola was of significant reassurance to Sola's mother, Jobal, as it matched the type of life Jobal had desired for her daughters. The relationship also increased Jobal's worries about Amidala in her role as queen.[7] Shortly after their marriage,[5] Sola gave birth to the couple's first daughter, Ryoo, in 28 BBY, followed by another daughter in 26 BBY,[9] whom they named Pooja after Darred's grandmother.[4] Sola and Darred's family lived in the same district in the capital city of Theed as Sola's parents, Jobal and Ruwee, allowing the children to visit their grandparents frequently.[5] Through Amidala's wedding to the Jedi Anakin Skywalker in 22 BBY, Darred became connected to the Skywalker family, which would become the most famous family in galactic history.[9]

Behind the scenes[]

The character of Darred was first mentioned in the Databank entries for Pooja and Sola Naberrie, which were published on StarWars.com in 2002. Pooja's entry used the name "Darred Naberrie,"[4] while Sola's entry used "Darred Janren" and specified that they both agreed to keep the Naberrie surname after their marriage.[2] The character was fully identified as "Darred Janren Naberrie" in Star Wars Annual 2009, a reference book published in 2008.[3]

The eightieth issue of The Official Star Wars Fact File magazine, published by De Agostini[7] on July 9, 2003[10] stated that Sola and Darred's wedding took place roughly halfway through Padmé Amidala's time as queen of Naboo,[7] placing it around 28 BBY,[8] while 2009's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia stated that their wedding was held shortly after the Battle of Naboo,[1] which occurred in 32 BBY.[11] This article follows the Fact File's timeline.
