The Dark Fair was a week long banquet held by the Nihil on Valo to honor the Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro. It was planned by Vark Tarpalin. When the Fair was supposed to begin, the Scarlet Skull attacked the Fair, destroying multiple Nihil ships.[1]

The Dark Fair appeared in Escape from Valo, a 2024 junior novel written by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[2] The event was included in the novel as a way to add a bit of humor to the book's dark themes, which primarily focused on the Nihil's Valo occupation. Both Wong and Older found the concept of several children ruining Tarpalin's grand event amusing.[3]
