Daal was a Force-sensitive human female Sith who lived in the galaxy. The young girl worked in a workhouse on a planet, and was friends with fellow workers Keena, Baython, and Quinn. At some point, she had become apprenticed to the Sith Lord known as the Sith Mother, who offered her an escape from the planet if Daal was able to prove herself. She communicated to the girl through an amulet, and provided her with the test to set out for the region known as the Screecher's Reach, and confront the legendary "ghost" known as the "Screecher." After uncovering the Screecher's identity as a Sith, Daal took the Screecher's lightsaber and entered one of the planet's valleys, where the Sith Mother arrived in her ship and took the girl away.

Biography[]

Inhabiting a planet in the galaxy, Daal was a young human female worker in one of the planet's workhouses. She had become friends with fellow workers Quinn, Keena, and Baython. The group had heard stories of a ghost known as the "Screecher" who lived in a cave of the Screecher's Reach region of the planet. At some point, Daal had come into contact with the^[1] Sith Lord^[3] known as the Sith Mother, who offered Daal an escape from the planet if she was able to prove herself worthy. The Sith Mother provided Daal with an amulet necklace, which acted as a communication device between the two.^[1]

One day, the Sith Mother provided Daal with her final test, to venture to the Screecher's Reach and confront the Screecher. As Daal began to leave, her friends came to tag along in order to see the ghost. After hijacking a landspeeder, the group found a location to rest and built a campfire. As the other children, laughed and played, Daal explained to Baython her dreams of leaving the workhouse permanently. Baython stated to Daal that if given the opportunity, she should leave the planet and explore the galaxy. The group then continued on their journey to the Screecher's cave. Before entering the cave, Daal repeated a Sith mantra into the amulet.^[1]

Eventually, they encountered the Screecher, which scared of Daal's friends, leaving her alone. After a cave-in, Daal repeated her mantra once again as she watched the Screecher ignite its lightsaber blade, revealing itself as a Sith. It slashed its lightsaber, which hit Daal's cape and wounded her arm. She noticed a crack forming in the cave ceiling above, so she ran towards it and stumbled. Picking herself up, she began to climb towards the crack, but the Sith grabbed onto her leg. Using her mantra once more, Daal used the Force for the first time in order to pull a rock from the cave's walls, which fell on top of the Screecher. With more light beaming through the room, Daal took time to account for her surroundings. She came to the realization that the Screecher had actually been an old woman, and not a "ghost." She took the Sith's lightsaber and used it to kill her.^[1]

Exiting the cave into a valley, she found her friends waiting for her. She spoke her mantra into the amulet once more, and this time she received a response from the Sith Mother, who stated that they were to meet. Subsequently, the Sith Mother's ship landed on the planet and the Sith Lord walked out. As her friends questioned who the lady was, Daal questioned the Sith Mother, who had stated the test was one of the mind. The Sith Mother stated that all true tests were mental, before allowing the girl to keep the Screecher's lightsaber. As the Sith Lord motioned her new apprentice to come inside her ship, Daal asked whether her friends could come along too, the Sith Mother offered an ultimatum, stating that either Daal could stay with her friends or leave them behind and come with the Sith Lord. Daal accepted the latter offer and entered the woman's ship. As the ship took off, Daal took one final look at her friends before the door's shut close.^[1]

Personality and traits[]

Daal had red hair, brown eyes, and fair skin.^[1] During her journey to the Screecher's Reach, Daal experienced regret for keeping the secret that she had been chosen by the Sith Mother to leave, from her friends.^[3]

Powers and abilities[]

Through the use of the Force, Daal was able to pull items using telekinesis.^[1]

Equipment[]

Daal wore a dark-brown cape and shirt, light-brown pants, and brown boots. She wore a grey uniform and helmet while working in the workhouse, and had worn the amulet necklace which the Sith Mother had provided to her.^[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Daal was created for "Screecher's Reach," a short film in the second volume of the Star Wars: Visions series. It was directed by Paul Young, written by Will Collins and Jason Tammemägi of Cartoon Saloon,^[1] and released on May 4, 2023 for Disney+.^[4] In the episode she is voiced by Eva Whittaker.^[1]
